Six days ago, Joe Lynch was a happily married man, a devoted father, and a respected teacher living in a well-to-do London suburb. But that was before he spotted his wife’s car entering a hotel parking garage. Before he saw her in a heated argument with her best friend’s husband. Before Joe confronted the other man in an altercation where he left him for dead, bleeding and unconscious.

I was hooked after the first chapter!
Kept me on my toes and Definitely a twist ending
I did not see coming.
On the negative side the plot was very unlikely
and Joe the main character seems like he would just put up with anything
from his wife so he started to irritate me at times.
However this was an entertaining read and thats all Im looking for most of the time

When Angela met Jason Powell while catering a dinner party in East Hampton, she assumed their romance would be a short-lived fling, like so many relationships between locals and summer visitors. To her surprise, Jason, a brilliant economics professor at NYU, had other plans, and they married the following summer. For Angela, the marriage turned out to be a chance to reboot her life. She and her son were finally able to move out of her mother's home to Manhattan, where no one knew about her tragic past.

This book was a disappointed in so many ways
The story is muddled and flows in a clumsy way.
Some parts are sooooo drawn out I wanted to scream just get on with it.
The ending was a twist but not in a good way...it was just stupid

Would you try another book from John Lescroart and/or Jacques Roy?

This author had no story line at all
So the happily married character Kate just suddenly to
over the top seduce some random guy??
Rents a hotel room and invites him over?
THEN never wants to see him again for no reason
Please so unrealistic and dumb

Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I loved the book 'Behind Closed Doors' so I was highly anticipating this one and even pre ordered but the story was a disappointment .
-spoilers- First this story is written in 2017!! So why doesnt Cass get one of those
call blockers to block calls with no ID? Or why doesnt she take it off the hook ?
Or have her phone number changed? She could easily set up a video alarm system
which are very common now. Too many holes for me
But beyond that - the story itself DRONES on and on with chapter after chapter
of phone caller breathing on the other end of the phone and her being scared.
The person who was doing the calls is easy to figure out as well (and Im not one who easily sees twists) IDK this may have made a better short story it is only towards the very end of the book that it gets interesting.
Is it the worst book I ever read? No and I was entertained enough to continue reading it
its more like a 2.5 star book
Read Liar instead if your looking for book in this genre

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was good for the voice of the main character but
not her husband, his voice was odd... not real at all

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment
Hopefully I am not judging it too harshly based on my
expectations

I found it annoying that Tessa could not speak in full sentences EVER
"Have to find her"
"Need to eat" ect
Ugh and that song "all I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth"
what did that have to do with nything??

Best sellers are often not well written or that good

Dont you hate when your reading a book that starts out interesting...you keep reading because you want to find out what is going to happen... a mysterious couple with a hidden secret and a unsuspecting stranger who gets caught up in it all - the book reminded me in the beginning of "Behind Closed Doors" (which was excellent)Then BAM! Some paranormal BS is the answer that the book hinges on (And the paranormal BS is beyond stupid...a 2nd door? leaving your body? C'MON)And just so you know Im not against when books go this route for instance I loved "Leaving Time"

What made the experience of listening to My Not So Perfect Life the most enjoyable?

I listen to audio while Im doing boring chores around the house
or getting ready. Her books are always so entertaining and the characters seem so real.
I have read all her books, except the shopaholic series (probably great books but the first one stressed me out!)
I also love the way I dont have to be patient with the book, I can get "into" it right away

Any additional comments?

The Narrator was exceptional
She had a lot of accents to do and it was wonderful to listen to
