Unlike her parents - and much to the dismay of her stray cat best friend - Kai has chosen not to spend the rest of her life at the diner in Nocturne Falls. The narrator was pretty good, if a bit monotone at times with t he main character. The initial interaction between the title character and X were, I assume, supposed to be romantic, but were in fact quite awful. There is NOTHING romantic about passing out then waking up tied up by the character the story is trying to make your romantic partner/the good guy. I found that quite disturbing and very inappropriate. There was a not any trustful interaction between the character prior to that, in fact most of their interactions made zero sense. I will try the next book to see if the writing improves....

what a struggle to get through this book. Between the caricature of a mother to the weak and ineffectual stereotype of every male in the story and the really weak main character it like the author never gets out of the house or talks to real people. no suspense at all, almost like the main character forgot what the storyline was halfway through. it was a huge book full of complaints. ugh.

Where there's a witch, there's a way! Where there's a whole family of them, there's trouble. Bay Winchester, editor of Hemlock Cove's small weekly newspaper, thinks her small hamlet's upcoming murder mystery weekend is going to be all about fun, food, and frolicking. Instead, when another dead body is discovered in Hemlock Cove, things turn into murder, mayhem, and migraines (the latter is mostly thanks to her family, of course).
