Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

This is an awesome story no matter how you cut it. The Starks are the Good Guys and the Lanisters are the Bad Guys in so many ways. The King is a person that you just have to feel sorry for. Years ago he was so strong and now he is just a fat drunk. If the King was strong enough he would have seen the deceit of the Lanisters and would have found a way to destroy them. . I have had dreams of how I would have written the story. But the way that Martin has written it, when everything starts to go wrong, you just feel like killing somebody or destroying something yourself. Why does it have to happen that way? That is the amazing thing about Martin, how he brings out the feelings of the reader or listener. Great Story!!

Segregated clans, being told who to love, and close-minded leaders make freedom of choice almost impossible. The new girl with the striped hair is a breath of fresh air, and with Bryn's help, they may be able to change the rules.

This was an interesting concept where a book of great evil is found and then has horrible affects on an Emperor. Turns him from a good person to a truly EVIL person. I found this Audio book truly depressing because there are many descriptions of suffering. The whole Land seems to be suffering from disease and torture. I received this Audio Book for free in exchange for an unbiased review. This is a true battle between the Dark and the Light. I just could not get into it.

This book was a lesson in imagination! A Roman Legion invades the East coast of the United States. This is back before any English colonize the north american continent. So this Roman Legion ends up battling with many different Indian Tribes. They keep treking West until they run into the central north American Mound builder people. This is when the Mound builder people were at their greatest, most sucessful period. The Army of the Mound builders completely destroys the Roman Legion and the only one left standing is the Praetor Gaius Marcellinus. Gaius goes through many adventures. The year is 1625 and the fate of Scotland depends on a prophecy concerning three girls. This story is about Glenna who is raised as a slave in a cruelly ran household. As she grows into a young woman, her hopes for a descent life are not good. Then she is surprised in the stables by a Druid that no one else can see. The Druid takes pity on the young girl and helps her escape her enslaved situation. But the Druid also senses a power in young Glenna, and he hopes to help her devote that power to Good and not Evil.
