An Irish mobster. A missing friend. Two loyalties, ripping me apart. I had a plan. Get in, get my information, and get out. Easy, right? Turns out, infiltrating the Irish mafia isn't exactly what I thought it would be. I just wanted a soldier. Someone I could flirt with to get me in the door. That's when Lachlan Crow noticed me. Problem was, he wasn't a soldier. No, he was next in line for the throne of the Irish underworld. And he was determined to hate me from the outset.

This book was a first for me from the author and the narrator and i was very pleasantly surprised! The narrator really made the characters come to life and she made the main male character, Lachlan, seem so sexy - you really fall in love with this hardcore heartthrob. The female lead, Mac, is also so well described that you really step into her world. I absolutely loved it and cant wait to listen to the next in the series.

I've listened to one of LLM's previous books and really enjoyed it, but this one is torture. The characters have very extreme emotions (not placed correctly: something really small would happen and the character would go in a complete turmoil about it. Very unrealistic and really annoying). I also got the impression that the writer tried to use "creative phrases" which was sometimes misplaced - and the book seemed to be forced-written and wasn't natural. The main female character is also a bit wimpy and pathetic. So much time was spent on describing dead husband - and too little on giving the main characters a bit of substance. I'm not even going to finish the book. If the narrator wasn't really good, I would've given up in the first chapter already.

Vampyres don't exist. They absolutely do not exist. At least I didn't think they did 'til I tried to quit smoking and ended up Undead. Who in the hell did I screw over in a former life that my getting healthy equates with dead? Now I'm a Vampyre. Yes, we exist whether we want to or not. However, I have to admit, the perks aren't bad. My girls no longer jiggle, my ass is higher than a kite, and the latest Prada keeps finding its way to my wardrobe.

And even more surprising is that it's the Ph.D.-toting academic Rebecca McKnight who has him headed for a fall. Could Shane's days as a bachelor be coming to an end?

Oh my word I was so disappointed in this book! The duke was NOT the awesome hero he is supposed to be and his stutter is NOT sexy. I was hoping throughout the book that his family perhaps had something to do with his 'condition' (perhaps drugged him...?), but when there is no feasible explanation as to his 'condition' I was just confused as to why any author would write a book with a main character that you pity. Don't waste your credit!

After all, it isn't as if the brooding rogue has any real plans to marry - though there is something about the alluring Miss Bridgerton that sets Simon's heart beating a bit faster. And as for Daphne, surely the clever debutante will attract some very worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable.
