Eric disappeared when he was three years old. Ben looked away for only a second at the grocery store, but that was all it took. His brother was gone. Vanished right into the sticky air of the Florida Panhandle. They say you've got only a couple days to find a missing person. Forty-eight hours to conduct searches, knock on doors, and talk to witnesses. Two days to tear the world apart if there's any chance of putting yours back together. That's your window. That window closed five years ago, leaving Ben's life in ruins.

For four aging men in the terror-stricken town of Milburn, New York, an act inadvertently carried out in their youth has come back to haunt them. Now they are about to learn what happens to those who believe they can bury the past - and get away with murder. Peter Straub's classic best seller is a work of "superb horror" ( Washington Post Book World) that, like any good ghost story, stands the test of time - and conjures our darkest fears and nightmares.

Pirriwee Public is a beautiful little beachside primary school where children are taught that ‘sharing is caring.’ So how has the annual School Trivia Night ended in full-blown riot? Sirens are wailing. People are screaming. The principal is mortified. And one parent is dead. Was it a murder, a tragic accident or just good parents gone bad? As the parents at Pirriwee Public are about to discover, sometimes it’s the little lies that turn out to be the most lethal.

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits.

What would have made Dark Witch better?

The story is not bad (not good either) but I could deal with it if the narrator had been better. A good narration can make or break a story.

What could Nora Roberts have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Focus more on the magic elements and the conflict. Who cares about the romance!!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She was terrible!!!!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dark Witch?

Romance scenes

Any additional comments?

Will be returning this book. I could not even finish it. It was terrible!!!

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

What made the experience of listening to Gone Girl the most enjoyable?

Readers were very good and the story flowed nice. The first have was better than the second half. I feel the end of the book was a let down as I feel the reader was not given a real solution to the problem.

Would you be willing to try another book from Gillian Flynn? Why or why not?

Yes

Which scene was your favorite?

No favorites

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Just a thrilling ride

Any additional comments?

I have read that producers are thinking of changing the ending in the movie. That would be wise as the end of this most thrilling ride will leave wondering "What????"

Would you try another book from Dan Brown and/or Paul Michael?

Only the Da Vinci Code. Dan Brown's best book.

Would you ever listen to anything by Dan Brown again?

Not if he keeps this same formula. This book was terrible and very, very predictable!!!!

What three words best describe Paul Michael’s voice?

Good, Engrossing, Good

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really

Any additional comments?

This was not a story but an art history lesson. Dan Brown should cut back on the "lessons" and focus on the story.
