I read the book first and liked this variation when I found I could purchase the Audible version at a discount. Rarely have I been as disappointed in a purchase than I've been with this one. The narration all but ruins the story. She cannot do multiple voices well at all. Her vocal portrayal of Lord and Lady Matlock were pathetic, Lady Catherine, Mr. Bennett were poorly done as well. It will be a long time, if ever, before I listen to this again and I will never purchase another book narrated by her.

A moving love story displaying all of Austen's signature wit and ironic narrative style. Persuasion is Jane Austen's last completed novel. She began it soon after she had finished Emma, completing it in August 1816.

Persuasion has long been my favorite. Mary Sarah is also a favorite. Perfection together.

When Elizabeth Bennet first knew Mr. Darcy, she despised him and was sure he felt the same. Angered by his pride and reserve, influenced by the lies of the charming Mr. Wickham, she never troubled herself to believe he was anything other than the worst of men - until, one day, he unexpectedly proposed. Mr. Darcy's passionate avowal of love causes Elizabeth to reevaluate everything she thought she knew about him.

I was terribly surprised by this vagary. The book was very long and drawn out. I finished the story, but it was almost painful it was so long and detailed. I kept wanting the author to speed things up, but she never did. Her particular writing style does not work for me.
