Sharon Washington’s autobiographical one-woman play, Feeding the Dragon, delighted audiences off-Broadway and is now available exclusively on Audible. The one-act play invites listeners into Sharon’s unorthodox childhood, growing up in an apartment on the top floor of the St. Agnes Branch of the New York Public Library, where her father served as the building’s custodian. A love of literature and boundless imagination helped the playwright as a young woman persevere over dragons of all forms.

Bravo! I would really like to see a live play of this story. Sharon Washington's story is filled with the warmth that family brings into the place called home. She wittingly engaged our imaginations with the wonders of living in the wing of a library, and the many experiences that become the flavors of her life.

Enjoyed this book, each of the stories were like listening to a slice of someone's life, and it was a brilliant approach. The last story was the most gripping because it highlighted the raw realities of mental health issues that rip into the lives of families and communities. Well done.

In this noisy, distracting world, it is difficult to truly hear. People talk past each other, eager to be heard but somehow deaf to what is being said. Listening is an essential skill for healthy relationships, both with God and with other people. But it is more than that: listening is a way of life. Adam McHugh places listening at the heart of our spirituality, our relationships and our mission in the world. God himself is the God who hears, and we, too, can learn to hear what God may be saying through creation, through Scripture, through people.

This book was therapeutic! It was a compelling approach to listening, and a true person centered approach to digesting the messages that others share with us about their daily lives. Of course the faith based approach made this book even more refreshing to listen attentively during chaotic times of the daily grind, like being in traffic! This book left me with a new appreciation for listening to the concerns, wisdom, offenses, hopes, wishes and dream that others share with me about aspects of their daily lives. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book; found it soothing and healing.

Many people grapple with destructive thought processes or a "critical inner voice" that directs their behavior and, to varying degrees, limits their lives. Using deeply personal and very human stories based on his own clinical practice, noted psychologist Robert W. Firestone illustrates the struggles of his clients to give words to this "enemy within", and in the process overcome its damaging influence.

This book was an eye opener on the therapeutic use of voice therapy. The case studies are very beneficial because the results were personal for each client, and their struggles mirrored so many others in daily life. I especially appreciate the pace and tone of the narrator; I found his reading therapeutic.
