I listened to this book because I like the narrator but that's where it stops. The book is just the main character haveing a conversation with someone else. The supporting roles rarely talk to each other so it's kind of odd.
Secondly, the main character is a total idiot. She gains magical powers and instead of listening to her friends who have experience and knowledge she totally blows them off and ends up killing them or seriously injurying them. Each time this happens her other friends tell her this wasn't her fault...but wait, wasn't it? She has no idea what she was doing and decided to not take any advice from anyone. Soooo, yeah, totally her fault! This happens time and time again and made for a horrible story line. The cherry on top was when her friend had told her not to trust the villan but of course she did anyway so at the end of the story the same friend gets out of the hospital and says, "I'll never doubt you again!" Ummm??? You told her the right advice, she once again didn't listen and it put you in a coma????

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

There's no place like home... For teacher Jenna McKnight, nothing spells "heartbreak" like finding her husband with somebody else--in her bed. It's clearly time to reinvent herself. A new body, a new city, and a new job later, she's done just that. The beautiful Auckland villa isn't really her home, though. Finn Douglas and his kids aren't really her family, however much she wishes they were. And playing house can be a dangerous game. Rugby star Finn Douglas is just looking for a temporary nanny and housekeeper. Not a girlfriend, and definitely not a wife. He can't resist Jenna's cooking, it's true. Who knew he'd have so much trouble resisting her? He wants to do what's right for his kids. But waiting is so hard... Note: This romance, like New Zealand, contains a bit of steam. If that isn't your cuppa, maybe visit some other country... er, audiobook.

I enjoyed this book more than 1 and 2 in the series. It seems like the author listened to reviews of book 2 and didn't make a girl who had so many issues. I do wish the other characters had appeared more but it made sense as to why they didn't. looking forward to #4.

Kate Lamonica isn't Koti James' type. Too small. Too dark. And heaps too much work. So it's an easy bet that he can be her friend for six weeks without making a move on her, no matter what his mates would have said. Kate can't believe she's made the bet at all. New Zealand had seemed like the perfect escape from the stalker who'd threatened first her peace of mind and then her life. She certainly doesn't need any more trouble. Why on earth has she agreed to spend time with a Maori rugby player who's far too handsome and charming for his own good - and knows it?

I definitely liked the first book better. This girl is so overly opiniated that she yells and throws a fit anytime someone says something she doesn't agree with. My eyes rolled everytime she started going off and I found myself thinking, "here we go again."
I did enjoy that characters from the last book were still here and Koti James definitely sounds like a hottie.

I can never stop listening to these books. Yes, it does have a slightly different feel than when Stieg Larson was writing but I can't get enough of these characters.
