I’ve been listening to my father sing for my whole life. I carry him in my pocket on my MP3 player. It’s just that we’ve never met face to face. My mother would never tell me how I came to be, or why my rock star father and I have never met. I thought it was her only secret. I was wrong. When she dies, he finally appears. Suddenly I have a first-class ticket into my father’s exclusive world. A world I don’t want any part of - not at this cost. Only three things keep me going: my a cappella singing group, a swoony blue-eyed boy named Jake, and the burning questions in my soul.

I picked up this book because it was one of the recommended books of the summer by a book blogger I follow. What a great find. This is my first book by Sarina Bowen. It’s a story about a teen trying to find her way in life after the death of a parent. This is a YA book that is appropriate for adults as well. I will be adding more of Sarina Bowen’s book to my to read list.

I'm always hesitant to start a Jamie McGuire book. I know it's going to grip me I won't be able to stop listening and then stop thinking about what I've listened to. As with all of her books, it's beautifully written. It's a love story and so much more. This story follows the young love of Elliot and Catherine. They meet as young children and we watch them grow into young adults. The ending will make your jaw drop. This will definitely be one I will re-read many times.

Once again Tarryn Fisher has owned me. She is the master of weaving her words into a story that kept me captivated. I couldn't stop listening and finished this in a day. I have read all of her novels and it is clear, the author has a dark side to her. The story follows a woman named Fig, who is convinced her miscarried baby's soul is in another child she has been stalking. Told from 3 different point of views, the character and plot twists will keep you guessing until the end.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I'd never been able to forget - even though he so easily forgot about me - and call him. Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you've had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless prank call. Instead I went off on him - unloading 13 years of pent-up emotions. I didn't think he'd call me back.

It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago. What is supposed to be a fun family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day-old beard clippings.

I purchased this book before I read the reviews. This is a nice HEA book. But Lordy, the narrator was challenged. I was so tempted to turn it off after a few chapters because the voices for some of the characters were so grating. I sped it up and plowed through it. I would suggest reading it in paperback on the beach instead!

Both male leads implant themselves into your heart. I can't say much more without spoilers but I can say that this is a must read. Olivia Song does this story justice with her narration. I anxiously await the next Colleen Hoover book.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. I am a die hard Abbl Glines fan and still find it hard to believe she wrote it.

What was most disappointing about Abbi Glines’s story?

The story didn't really have a solid plot. It is messy and disjointed. Truly disappointing.

What does Sophie Eastlake and Jeremy York bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They are both awesome narrators. They did a fine job with what they had to work with.

Do you think Up in Flames needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. Rosemary Beach is done.

Any additional comments?

This book just makes me sad. I always look forward to Abbi Gline's latest releases and it was a struggle to finish this one.

Would you try another book from Rachel Van Dyken and/or Nick Podehl and Amy McFadden ?

Where do I start? The premise was good but there were so many gags that I'm not sure I would try another Rachel Van Dyken book. Amy McFadden is not my favorite narrator. Nick Podehl did a fine job.

What could Rachel Van Dyken have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Dropped about 50% of the zaniness.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Amy McFadden did. She over dramatizes everything.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Consequence of Loving Colton?

The storyline of the grandmother chasing the hot younger man.

Any additional comments?

Maybe this would have been better if I read it in print but honestly, Amy McFadden's performance about did me in.
