Sharon Washington’s autobiographical one-woman play, Feeding the Dragon, delighted audiences off-Broadway and is now available exclusively on Audible. The one-act play invites listeners into Sharon’s unorthodox childhood, growing up in an apartment on the top floor of the St. Agnes Branch of the New York Public Library, where her father served as the building’s custodian. A love of literature and boundless imagination helped the playwright as a young woman persevere over dragons of all forms.

Candace Chen, a millennial drone self-sequestered in a Manhattan office tower, is devoted to routine. With the recent passing of her Chinese immigrant parents, she’s had her fill of uncertainty. She’s content just to carry on: She goes to work, troubleshoots the teen-targeted Gemstone Bible, watches movies in a Greenpoint basement with her boyfriend. So Candace barely notices when a plague of biblical proportions sweeps New York.

Why isn't your love life where you want it to be? Are you going to point fingers at the quality of today's men, blame the city that you live in, or come up with the defense that you don't have the energy to date? You pretend to be working on yourself, but you secretly hope and wish that Prince Charming will fall in your lap. You make the excuse that it's not you, it's the men, but there is something inside of you that knows the common denominator in all of your failed relationships was you!

Omg! it was a struggle to finish it. I thought I would give it a try because it started kind of interesting, but it just got worse and worse!! .

I don't know who is HE think he's writing to/about, but he writes towomen like we are the most pathetic individuals walking the face of this Earth!
if you like being told you're pathetic REPETITIVELY, throughout the ENTIRE book then this is the book for you!
if you see men as strictly walking "dicks" that you can ".. climb like a tree..." then this is the book for you!
However, if you have any sense of /relationship with God, this is NOT the book for you. As far as the author is concerned, there is no God and he suggests that believing in such is worthless and childlike.
I am no prude, however his ways of describing things was rather offensive. It doesn't matter if you get the most proper sounding narrator to read your words, they still sound ghetto. And I've been told i have the ".. mouth of a sailor.. " and even I though the author's choice if words were not only vulgar and crass, but it really was over the top unnecessary.
I really tried to find positive in this book, but it was tough.
Im glad audible gives refunds bc THIS book was really a waste of my valuable time!!

OMG ! I can't believe how bad this book is! I read some of the reviews saying that it was bad, but I thought that it can't be that bad so I purchased it. it's that bad.

I tried to tell myself that it would make it better movie to explain away how bad it was.

I tried to rationalize to myself how inconsistent it was, how so many things we're left unexplained. but I cannot explain why they would be so unrealistic in everything that was described in this book.

I was excited to be able to read a book with this type of situation-- from an urban standpoint and from a female standpoint. but this book just isn't it. it's just horribly written!!
it doesn't seem that bad in the beginning but by the time I got to chapter 10 I couldn't bear anymore. purchase at your own risk!
thank God audible gives a return policy. I'm about to contact audible now and ask for return of credit.

I generally prefer novels that incorporates "survival skills" in a situation were our present day luxuries are no longer available. However, his book, unlike the previous two in the series, showed a different a kind of survival skill sets... Leadership, moral compass and the importance of community.
I enjoyed this book very much.

Side note:
I would also like to mention that, although limited, it was appreciated that in this story, there was respectful, inclusive references to people of different races, ethnicities and religions. I find that rare in this genre. I hope to one day see more inclusion in these kinds of books.

My gratitude to the author for his work

What disappointed you about American Exit Strategy?

I love survival stories, I love Narration by a Kevin Pierce, however if I wanted a book that pushes their political viewpoint, that's what I'll seek. I couldn't even get past the first chapter. I tried twice. It just irritated me too much. If you are a staunch right-wing Republican, you might love this book. I wanted a book on survival. I didn't find it here.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'll look for more by Franklin Horton. He is right winged, Bisbey he can write in a way that all ppl can listen and enjoy.
