Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig. It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview - to see if I'd mesh with their "special" clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That's the definition of fitting in, right? I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they...offered me the job? It turns out this place isn't a bar. It's a guild.

The main character has no skills of her own apart from luck and attracting strong male protectors.
Hard to believe a female actually wrote this character.
She does not plan anything and just rushes head first into stupid situations.
There is a vague reference to her taking a couple of tae kwon do classes as a kid that don’t fit the scenes at all

We were prepared for an earthquake. We had a flood plan in place. We could even have dealt with zombies. Probably. But no one expected the end to be quite so…sticky…or strawberry scented. Yahtzee Croshaw ( Mogworld, Zero Punctuation Reviews) returns to audiobooks with a follow-up to his smash-hit debut: Jam, a dark comedy about the one apocalypse no one predicted.

Great writer but not a great book.
This book feels like a short story stretched out to the length of a book.
The characters are really just one reaction over and over again like they are bots from a cheaply made Indy game.

During the book the characters seem a bit simplistic and two dimensional.
Once you get to the end it all makes sense.
The limited nature of how the enemies act actually gets explained.
.
One of the things I really liked about this book is the way the story actually finished.
Everything is wrapped up nicely.
It leaves no room for a sequel but that is actually quite refreshing

I do not really enjoy this book.
It was well written and seemed to be very well researched.
Unfortunately the history of marvel is a corporate mess.
Being purchased by Disney is probably the best thing that could have happened to marvel.
The history of the characters they created is even worse.
.
The entire story is a slow motion car accident.
