Nighthawks is a fabulous first in series that kept my interest from start to finish. The story is told in multiple POV's which takes a bit to get used to but the narrator did a fantastic job and I was able to follow along easily once I got used to the flow. I look forward to more in this series.

Most witches have a coven. Not me. For me, the protection a coven offers does not outweigh the risk of being discovered. I've worked odd jobs here and there peddling (mostly) legal potions I brew when I can. But when an opportunity to work for the vampires fell in my lap, I took it. I heal the people they feed on and don't ask too many questions. After less than six months working this gig, a girl turns up dead, drained of blood. Of course, I am the first person the police pay a visit to.

I really enjoyed this story. I was captivated from start to finish. I wish it were longer because I do feel that the world building and backstory needs more explanation but being as this is only book 1 and the subsequent books are at least double in pages I have faith that the author will elaborate in future books. The narrator was on point in bringing the story and characters to life - I would not hesitate to listen to more of her work. I look forward to more in this series and from this author and narrator

I returned to the city with one thing on my mind; find my nemesis and finish her. Nothing else mattered. Not the shadowy Organization I worked for. Not the Magic Council and their veiled threats. None of it. Just me and the witch locked into one final dance. But things weren’t exactly going to plan as I discovered a new, sinister threat. One that was trying to pry at the kind of locked doors that should never be opened, as well as driving a conspiracy to turn the entire world on its head.

I'm Krystin Blackwood, and I've only ever been good at one thing: killing demons of Darkness. But at 24, I'm about to face my toughest challenge yet: shifting from working alone to joining a team of three other Hunters. Newbie Hunters. They don't know their magik, they barely know their place in the world, and when they find out the secrets I've been carrying, they'll definitely decide it's safer if they don't know me. But unfortunately for them - and me - Darkness has other plans.

Starter Zone is a great first in series. It lays the groundwork and introduces the reader to the characters and world. The world building and character development are in depth and on point. I quickly became invested in Cami and Alby and was listening whenever I could to see where the story took them. I do not want to give any spoilers but I did find the story slowed a little once the gaming aspect was introduced. The transition at that point was a tad to easy in my opinion however being as this is only book 1 I am sure there are many obstacles ahead. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. I look forward to more in this series.

No one said being a princess was easy, and for Aledwen, the fae princess of spring, it's even harder. Especially with her lack of magic and the upcoming Birth of Spring. A ceremony she should be performing for the first time but can't. Luckily, she doesn't have to figure it out alone. Though at times, her shifter mates seem to be more of a hindrance than a help, and her elf's sense of duty may just override the bond between them. Can Aledwen become the queen she was always meant to be? Or will she be stuck as a magic-less princess?

I don't know if they were lacking due to the length of the story but I would have liked to see more character development and definitely more relationship development. I am not an insta-love fan. I did like how supportive the harem was overall and how they helped Aledwen grow. The narrator did a wonderful job at bringing the characters and story to life.

Can't fault a girl for having a little fun, can you?

I love the reversal of light being bad and dark being good. I would definitely give book 2 a chance.
