I knew it would be written like a guide book, but it just wasn't as engaging as I'd hoped it would be.

I thought the story war pretty well written. The author tied up all loose ends by the end of the book and it was fun for all of the stories to intermix a bit. Sometimes a bit too fantastic, but it was fun. The author was also the narrator and I felt that he rushed a bit for my liking. it made his words not very clear, but it certainly was still understandable.
