Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

Had a little trouble getting started with this one. After a few chapters, however, THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW became faster. Works better, however, as a read book rather than an audio book. Why? Because with the "in-my-hand" book, I began to go faster and faster to the end and could not put it down. The audio book did not allow me to move forward as fast, but kept to a steady set pace.

One of the comedy world's fastest-rising stars tells his wild coming of age story during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed. Noah provides something deeper than traditional memoirists: powerfully funny observations about how farcical political and social systems play out in our lives.

I've recommended to my book club friends that this is a book that MUST be listened to rather than read. Too much nuance is missed by reading it because you MUST hear Trevor Noah's delivery. Love this guy!

Trevor Noah makes you think "Oh that is soooo funny! Wait...that's not funny..." But he makes it sound funny. In other words, apartheid (or any kind of discrimination) is stupid! If Mr. Noah causes you to laugh and then groan, you have to realize that the institution he tells about is wrong. Wrong in its premise. Wrong in its implementation. Just plain WRONG!!

Moments after Lisbeth is born, she’s taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie, a young mother separated from her own infant son in order to care for her tiny charge. Thus begins an intense relationship that will shape both of their lives for decades to come. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant, slave-owning father.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

The Good House tells the story of Hildy Good, who lives in a small town on Boston's North Shore. Hildy is a successful real-estate broker, good neighbor, mother, and grandmother. She's also a raging alcoholic. Hildy's family held an intervention for her about a year before this story takes place - "if they invite you over for dinner, and it’s not a major holiday," she advises "run for your life" - and now she feels lonely and unjustly persecuted. She has also fooled herself into thinking that moderation is the key.

Terry Donnelly does a very good job with the performance of a difficult novel. I liked her voice, but could not really enjoy it because of the writing. I hope to be able to find Terry Donnelly doing other narrations that will do her performance skills justice.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the book itself for reading or listening because of the story.

Fans of xkcd ask Munroe a lot of strange questions. What if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90 percent of the speed of light? How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live? If there were a robot apocalypse, how long would humanity last?

I read this book and thought to myself "there is NO WAY this could be made into an audio book unless...Wil Wheaton is the narrator". Wil Wheaton's voice was the voice that I heard in my head as I read this in regular book format.

Well...YES WWAAAYY! Mr. Wheaton has done it again. I love listening to his take on many of the other sci-fi novels he has narrated. He has not disappointed with his narration of this one. A funny and informative read as a regular book, is funny and informative in the audio format as narrated by Wheaton.

Kristine Kathryn Rusch and Jay Snyder have teamed up to produce an intricate tapestry in this saga. Each of the novels in this universe has wrapped threads of questions and speculation around this listener. I keep saying to myself, "I wonder if..." or "Will this character ever..." or "WHAT THE..???" This storytelling team has kept me on the edge of my seat and coming back for more.

With this 7th installment of the saga, "loose threads" are being woven into a complex tapestry that is very enjoyable, very scary and very beautiful. I will definitely be going back to the beginning of the saga and listening to the first 7 books so that I can be ready for book 8.

Thank you - Kristine & Jay - for creating such a masterful work!
