This was a good way to spend a lazy afternoon. It's a solid B+ in my mind. The mix of a "who done it?" and a rather tepid romance is my description. I feel like I got my money's worth.

This was an enjoyable listen. The plot wasn't riviting because you know that the hero will get the girl but there was enough to action to keep the story going.
The acting was surprisingly entertaining and it kept me listening to the end?

Darius senses a crack under her polished surface - and finding it is a challenge he can't resist.

I bought this book in paperback when it first came out. I knew it was a wonderful story but I didn’t realize how enduring it would be. I bought it in e-book so I would always have it then I bought in audible. The audible is the best form in my opinion. The actor who reads it is great, and the pace is quick enough to be interesting but not hurried.
I just finished listening to it for at least the third time and for me it was as fresh as the first time I read it.
Thank you Loretta for a wonderful gift.

I’ve been reading Joan Wolf for at least 25? years. I own every paper back versions of her Regency stories that I could get my hands on. Now I’m collecting the audible versions and I’m finding that’s a wonderful way to experience her stories in a better way.
This is a remarkable romance that left me feeling happy.

P.S. Where is the audio version of “The Guardian”? Who could resist a book that pens with “He’s dead, he’s really dead”?

Where does The Thames River Murders rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have read this series for years. I first found it in a used book store in paperback. I liked the premise but it seemed dark and certainly not like any Regency I had read up till then. I bought it and was enthralled. This last book was so poignant yet as riveting as the earlier books. When you read as many books as I do, you forget so I just spent a rainy weekend rereading the books in the earlier part of the series. It’s seems silly to me to try to rank one book ahead another so l won’t but if you love character driven mysteries, buy these Ashley Gardner ones.

The was an excellent windup of this series. It was hard to see how Jo Beverly was going to solve the conflict between Rothgar and Ash but she did. Genova was a wonderful heroine. Some books are simply better when they are read and this book was that for me. I read it years ago and wasn't very impressed. But Audible made it an excellent treat.
