When a letter from his supposedly deceased mother finds its way into his hands, life changes in an instant for international pop star Bodhi Beckett. Reeling from the deception of those closest to him, Bodhi spirals out of control and is sent to a secluded mansion in the coastal mountains of Southern California for some rest and relaxation. But the retreat proves to be anything but relaxing when a raging wildfire sets the landscape around him ablaze. While escaping the flames, Bodhi rescues Breeze, a quirky, pet-loving woman, and together the two fight their way to safety.

Contemporary story set among the California wild fires and the too fast life style of celebrities, the story is reminiscent of the old Hollywood screwball comedies of seemingly mismatched lost souls who are made for each other. The characters are also a bit like those in Cake which I also enjoyed. I just wish there had been a bit more narration by Zach Webber, especially at the end which his pitch. A duet performance or more sharing of the narration would have pushed this over the top but still worth a credit!

This book needed an editor to cut about 1/3 out as it was.very slow and dragged. Aside from that the story was occasionally funny, often sad, and unfortunately too timely with the villains being a few emotionally abusive parents and one being a very corrupt politician. The hero and heroine survive their childhood abuse but have much to overcome before their HEA.

Sweet romance about the middle brother- Chase and his best friend Joy. Chase first has to deal with a malpractice suit and then an overcommitted schedule as a top surgeon as well as chief of surgery. Joy is a vet and has her own challenges balancing work and home. Lots of sexy scenes and interaction with their siblings, as well as a few occasions with the Montgomery family from earlier books in the series. The epilogue is a bit lame and could have been more illuminating.

This complete story is a bit long because it is a full story in one book- not a 2 parter that forces the reader to pay for 2 books to get a completed story. Even better it is in the Romance Package for those subscribers. The story has a fair amount of clumsy character development on the hero’s part. in the case of the heroine.it is a few whiney self discoveries. Lots of graphic sex between the 2 main characters but with the exception of some minor flirtation and a platonic engagement, there is total fidelity and loyalty between the two main characters. The story is mostly set in Las Vegas with subplots invoking the porn business and human trafficking so there is some suspense. Most of the action though involves the steamy interaction between the hero and heroine.
The story would have been better had the narration been less mediocre. Brian Palino has very little range with the female voice and Maxine Mitchell tends to whine her way through at a slow pace. Moving the narration speed to 1.25 when she speaks helps some but if these 2 narrate again in the same book they should do it as a duet performance and not just duo to improve the quality. The story is worth reading and a good choice for the Romance Package.

Seven years have passed since I fell for Boone West. The brooding bad boy. We were friends, even when I secretly wanted more, but I settled for what he offered. After he left Wyoming - and me - I grew up. Moved on. Or so I believed, until he blew back into my life with the scorching force of an Arizona desert wind. I'm not that innocent 16-year-old girl anymore; I'm a businesswoman who swore never to settle again. But this older, wiser, hotter version of Boone unsettles me. How am I supposed to resist Boone's megawatt smile and his built-army-strong body?

Lots of excess dialogue and some unnecessary subplots. The character development is good given the ages of the hero and heroine and particularly the hero’s childhood issues and challenges. The humor is a bit raunchy like other books by the author. Lots of auxiliary characters that may have their own stories in the future. Would have liked to have seen a follow up a few years down the road- maybe in a cousin’s story.
The narration by Shirl Rae is ok though her voice seemed a bit too mature for Sierra and her male voice was more whisper than husky. Charles Constant was too monotone much of the time and definitely sounded much older than the character of Boone. By the time the erotic scene begin halfway through the book the reader is fully on the side of the flawed but deserving, patience hero. This book is ok if you have the Romance Package and are willing to put 12 hours into a 6 hour story but reading it would give you a better option to skim sections.

Jackson "The Beast" Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick's New Orleans restaurant. Bianca would sooner douse herself in hot sauce than cook for Jackson again, but when he asks her to cater his fundraiser, Bianca can't refuse, knowing the cash will help pay her mother's medical bills. Then Jackson makes another outrageous request: Marry me. The unconventional offer includes an enormous sum - money Bianca desperately needs, even if it does come with a contract - and a stunning ring.

This took forever to get going and then continued at a slow pace. Very colorful language and interesting characters. Definitely a modern fairytale but I liked the premise. Sebastian York’s narration was great though more would have been welcomed. Diana Luke was ok but was tasked with some very corny lines and having to do a number of deep Southern accents which was too much at times. Also I hated the recipes as separate chapters breaking up any momentum to the story. Should have been at the end especially in the audio version. The hot scenes were definitely 2/3 of the way in except for some innuendo and dreams. The end was both sad and happy but an epilogue or another couple of chapters seemed to be owed the reader for waiting through the rest of the books or the HEA. That came and went in a couple of sentences.

My life was perfect - until a shocking tragedy pulled the rug out from underneath me. My children were left without a father. I was without a husband and a provider. Instead of wallowing in my grief, I buried myself in my work at Dovetail Enterprises. Landing the promotion as the CEO’s right hand was exactly what I needed. Getting saddled with Milo Huxley as an assistant is exactly the opposite. I can’t stand him. He’s arrogant, irresponsible, and out for my job. As if that’s not bad enough, he has to be devastatingly sexy, and have a posh English accent that makes me squirm on top of it all.

Danielle is struggling and coping as best she can with grief and tragedy. When her boss Callum’s brother shows up she has a major distraction and well as a challenge. Milo is a spoiled, mischievous self-centered player but Callum is also acting like a manipulative, resentful, bossy older brother and both siblings have issues with a domineering, set-in-her-ways mother. There should have been more interaction between the siblings more confrontations especially toward the end of the book concerning their mom. Instead Milo is expected to be totally self sacrificing though the solution is very predictable. The dialogue was good and there was plenty of depth with these characters but also several unresolved issues that could warrant a new book. The romance was touching, funny, sexy and heart warming - very fast but deep. The whole family and friends could have additional chapters and daughter Ava dating may make for a good subplot. Enjoyed these characters but this story especially was hard to see as an ending. The narration was well done.

Since the last guy turned out to be married, they’ve been easy to follow, until Callum Huxley, a ridiculously sexy Brit. The connection we have the moment our eyes lock scares the ever-loving hell out of me. Of the four Tampa gal pals, interiors decorator Nicole has the liveliest, most interesting personality and the most colorful language. She meets her match with British-American real estate mogul Callum Huxley. The dialogue is smart and witty though the story has a few holes in it particularly with Cal’s relationships with his brother, mother, father, aunt and uncle. Would have liked a few more girl friend scenes for Nicole especially with pregnancy though the birth was great.
Andi Arndt did a great job but Gary Furlong’s female voices are not great and his accent was inconsistent. Would have been better as a duet performance.
