Being a native of the Creek and Cherokee Nations, growing up with part of my soul in one world while the other struggled. I was born and raised in Tulsa and surrounding vicinities. I am most assuredly related to Ms. Harjo in blood but absolutely in spirit. I loved this book and it could not have come to me at a better time in my life. I have already passed it to my sister in hopes that she will feel the panic abate. Thank You Joy. Great granddaughter of E. Richards. ❤️

I’ve been reading and watching her since she began. Always extremely forthcoming with everything she does and is so relatable to me and my kind.
This is my favorite so far. I’ve been down this road and can appreciate everything she put into this...once again laying it bare.
If no one has adapted maladaptive behaviors throughout this cluster frick I wouldn’t believe you so take heed and let’s be in this together. Oh funny as sh*t as usual.

I read a lot. Just for accuracy I “listen” to audiobooks approximately 8 hours daily. I read fiction for the most part. Historical fiction, horror, sci-fi , fantasy, apocalyptic series and occasionally I need a feel good book.
Anyone who grew up in an era “before” the onslaught of television, telephones in hand or the internet will most assuredly feed off the nostalgia within. This author has managed to weave an extraordinary tale of mystery, historical fiction, murder, fantasy and the insight that we only have once in our lives. That of a child. Within this world are lessons for life. Powerful important lessons that any child from 10 and above can readily understand and glean from. A strong family unit (which we are sadly missing), lessons on humanity, humility, care and treatment of others, human or otherwise are doled out with delight. I could not find an error in this tale. I couldn’t stop and will be recommending it to anyone. There isn’t a person out there that could not relate and be entertained by this book. If there is I would have to say I’m sorry. Thank you Mr. McCammon! Bravo

I am a woman. I am a long time fan of Stephen King. Honestly, I had never read any work of Owen King so I had no register to gauge the difference. This book was seamlessly written by the two authors and I would have said it was a “classic” S King. I have found as I age similarly beside S King that he resonates something so honest about human nature that the books actually “solidify” thoughts or truths within me. This book is not a “fear” based concept for me. It was very moving in a way, strangely, that I wouldn’t have thought men could write. Men of the world, take heed for the world is a scary place right now. You are still at the helm and Stephen and Owen....Bravo.
The reader, Marin Ireland, was phenomenal. A reader makes or breaks the book and she made this book sing to me.

As a parent and child I found this family delightful . In the dysfunctional sense you would think total ruination occurs. I haven't read any other review so I may be repeating a current theme. I most likely will. Every person does the best job he/she can do and I believe this family did just that. In all of the trials and tribulations they prepared their children for "real life". My children should be so prepared. Most of the current generation can't pull themselves together enough to make it past hurdles. Little ones. I say Bravo to the Walls'.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane to be better than the print version?

I didn't read thie print....yet

What did you like best about this story?

Ms. See has an insight culturally that is very important

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

The main characters were wonderfully performed. It is difficult to perform different ages. The only flaw was young Haley but easily overcome by the powerful story

Who was the most memorable character of The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane and why?

Li-Yan...she embodies all of my favorite characters within one person. The perseverance, determination and loving mindset. Her ability to gap the time and cultural divides without losing herself

Any additional comments?

Historical fiction at its best. I'm an avid reader and my genres range wildly from this to fantasy, sci-fi and horror. I began using audible on a cross country drive alone and it is my "go to" form of reading. I can actually get things done while endlessly journeying through different worlds. Having said this I can attest that occasionally I will not fully comprehend everything I'm reading like I should. I understand but it's not that important, I can pick up where I lost time. I could not miss a word of this book it was so beautifully written and performed. I did fall asleep twice and "finished" causing me to download again and again but I will gladly reread it.
Depth, passion, spiritual with a strong story line that kept my heart and mind in its grip. The historical references were compelling and seamlessly integrated within, adding the depth of story while intriguing me to look further into this culture. I can't say enough about the story line other than I'm a mother and grandmother to girls and boys. I believe you captured so many things I believe so strongly about societal issues. The demise of a culture of family, community and our place in this universe. The problems that continue to plague us due to the lack of these critical issues. The continual search for how to "fix" problems that should be obvious but aren't. As a Native American woman I can identify strongly with your mindset. Thank you. I didn't want it to end. Famous words for an avid reader. I don't say that about many books. Ms. See, I will be watching you for you have captured my heart in your world of "The tea girl". Bravo!!!

I thought the first person narrative by the author was perfect. I have sent many books back due to bad narration. I thought he had the best grip of the character. After all it is his! I don't think I've read fantasy that had the amount of humor that this book did but because I do read fantasy I thought it was perfect. Great read. My only complaint is minor. I like really long books. This is a quick read

I am always sucked in by an excellent writer and storyteller which Mr.King has always been. I do have an issue with the alien/universe thing which is why I pulled away after reading "It" years ago. Recently read the "Mr Mercedes trilogy" so it was a backslide but still a good story. Outer space leather heads, worms don't seem to belong. I love sci fi AND fantasy but it needs to fit.

Going from fiction to horror then fantasy I now find myself at an interesting junction. Having pulled away from "ordinary fiction " to the ultimate sci-fi geek. Well written with every emotion intact, the thought of reading ordinary after this book is absurd. Onto book two! Well done!
