Medicine has triumphed in modern times, transforming birth, injury, and infectious disease from harrowing to manageable. But in the inevitable condition of aging and death, the goals of medicine seem too frequently to run counter to the interest of the human spirit.

I am surprised at how interesting the book is and how well Sally writes! I came to appreciate acting and actors far more than before reading this. I had a tendency to enjoy their performances without fully realizing how much goes into the acts and actors. Sally was able to identify her difficult emotions (often in retrospect) and discuss how she effectively - or ineffectively at certain times in her life worked through them. That is something many people don’t do, which makes this book interesting and helpful in a different way. This book also inspires, as the reader realizes how what Sally has achieved is mostly down to her driving, determined spirit and willingness to give herself fully to the love of her chosen craft with extreme dedication and very hard work. For anyone who thinks famous, glamorous, wealthy actors are lucky and have an easy life, wake up and think again.
Thank you, Sally. You’re amazing- and now you have another craft!

A frank, smart, and captivating memoir by the daughter of Apple founder Steve Jobs. Small Fry is Lisa Brennan-Jobs' poignant story of a childhood spent between two imperfect but extraordinary homes. Scrappy, wise, and funny, young Lisa is an unforgettable guide through her parents' fascinating and disparate worlds. Part portrait of a complex family, part love letter to California in the '70s and '80s, Small Fry is an enthralling audiobook by an insightful new literary voice.

I admit I was interested in this book because of it being by Steve Jobs daughter. I was in for a surprise. Lisa’s “coming of age” story is indeed very interesting, but more than that, it was lived and revealed by a very perceptive, intelligent person and very good writer.
As far as Steve’s portrayal, yes, his well- known, incomprehensibly difficult side is on display, but also, and unexpectedly, a different , better side that I don’t think he’s gotten much, if any credit for publicly.
Well deserved 5 stars for the author and narrator.

The story, character development, visual descriptions and great narrator make this a 5-Star for me. It kept me listening until the end, which I can’t say is true for all books. The warmth of some of the characters as well as their lifestyle, against the cold, harshness of others was an ideal balance for me. Some books have too much of one or the other!Worth the credit!
