some struggle to finish. a few parts are needlessly vulgar and or overly sexualized. plenty of Politically Correct junk. like gender identity, feminist ideas, lgbt. broader vocabulary would be nice in place of vulgarity. the story arc didn't have a feeling of conclusion it just ended. not a book to be reread.

One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.

I enjoyed the performance. But its certainly not a book that is easy to listen to at times. Worth a listen. A bit slow.

I like these books by John flannegan because of rich story and characters. and as they are written for a younger audience they are clean and i can miss a bit of them while driving and not feel like i have to rewind it.
