From the moment of her ascension to the throne in 1952 at the age of twenty-five, Queen Elizabeth II has been the object of unparalleled scrutiny. But through the fog of glamour and gossip, how well do we really know the world’s most famous monarch? Drawing on numerous interviews and never-before-revealed documents, acclaimed biographer Sally Bedell Smith pulls back the curtain to show in intimate detail the public and private lives of Queen Elizabeth II.

An interesting and well researched biography of one of the most unique and influential historical figures in the 20th and 21st Century. I only wish a pdf would have been included, organized by chapters, so that the referenced historical places, pictures, and portraits could be viewed. However, I was able to pause and search on the internet if I wanted to see the detail. I walked away with an incredible admiration for the courage and character of Queen Elizabeth II. The book didn’t hide her mistakes, but rather displayed how she grew from them. A truly remarkable woman! The book was well organized and presented. I would enjoy a follow up book later by the same author, concluding the Queen’s story.

These books are an absolute favorite! Each book is a new treasure to add to the Green Ember adventure. I love listening with my 12 & 14 year old who have been avid fans since the first Green Ember Book. Waiting for the next story!

After the disastrous attack on the Manticoran home system by forces unknown, the Royal Manticoran Navy stands on the brink of collapse. A shadowy enemy with the resources to hurl warships across hundreds of light years seeks to conquer the Star Kingdom for reasons unknown, while forces from within Manticore's own government seek to discredit and weaken the Navy for reasons very much known: their own political gain.

Enjoyed immensely! It would have been easier for me to follow if there was a little longer pause between scene changes in the story.

On Batuu, at the edges of the Unknown Regions, a threat to the Empire is taking root - its existence little more than a glimmer, its consequences as yet unknowable. But it is troubling enough to the Imperial leader to warrant investigation by his most powerful agents: ruthless enforcer Lord Darth Vader and brilliant strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fierce rivals for the emperor’s favor, and outspoken adversaries on Imperial affairs - including the Death Star project - the formidable pair seem unlikely partners for such a crucial mission.

I really liked the way this book weaved between past and present stories. As always, Zahn does outstanding work and Thompson is the best choice as narrator. I’m so glad they didn’t have the same theme music for Thrawn as they used in the previous Thrawn book. I also saw Zahn’s Dragon Back series just came out on audiobook. I read those with my older kids and really loved them.
