One of Charles Bukowski's best, this beer-soaked, deliciously degenerate novel follows the wanderings of aspiring writer Henry Chinaski across World War II-era America. Deferred from military service, Chinaski travels from city to city, moving listlessly from one odd job to another, always needing money but never badly enough to keep a job. His day-to-day existence spirals into an endless litany of pathetic whores, sordid rooms, dreary embraces, and drunken brawls, as he makes his bitter, brilliant way from one drink to the next.

I've read Bukowski's first three books and this is by far my favorite. The raspy voice doing the performance was fitting as well. Enjoyed this audio version immensely.

The world is changing. Markets have crashed. Jobs have disappeared. Industries have been disrupted and are being remade before our eyes. Everything we aspired to for "security," everything we thought was "safe," no longer is. But more and more opportunities are rising out of the ashes of the broken system to generate real success. Choose Yourself illuminates your personal path to building a bright, new world out of the wreckage of the old.

A bit of anecdotal self help with an extremely personalized touch by Altucher. Loved it. Will listen again. Also want to pick up the hard copy so I can highlight and make notes.

I read this and Write Publish Repeat one after the other. Both were fantastic. Highly recommend for anyone considering self publishing. Will be downloading Kindle to refer back to and maybe even a physical copy as well. Simon Whistler is a great great great narrator as well.
