Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

I listened to the audible and found myself quoting sections of it at work to my co-workers. I guess that makes it a success. However, at the beginning of every year - I tend to read several self-help books to get the year started right. After going through a few already by now - I cannot distinguish this one over the others. I think it was good at the time, but may need to go back and listen to it again so that I can apply some of the ideas and recommendations.

This book was okay..... just okay. While listening to the audible - I started to wonder about the author. He has practiced at times EXTREME self-discipline. I am not sure I would want to be friends with him, and I may be even a little worried about his mental state. I can picture the author as his own version of a monk. So, he provided the information in the book - but my mind continued to wander and wonder about the author himself.
