Paul Schumann, a German American living in New York City in 1936, is a mobster hitman known as much for his brilliant tactics as for taking only "righteous" assignments. But then Paul gets caught. And the arresting officer offers him a stark choice: prison or covert government service. Paul is asked to pose as a journalist covering the summer Olympics taking place in Berlin. He's to hunt down and kill Reinhard Ernst - the ruthless architect of Hitler's clandestine rearmament.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Love Deavers books but didn't care for this one at all. Felt like I was listening to a hokey 1940's radio program. Fairly predictable story line and we'll below the quality of Deavers other work.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

One reviewer said it best : Sappy. Romantic fiction. But what teed me off is that this is 24 hours of set up for a series. And in all that time the mystery doesn't get solved. Enough said.
