The Sea Wolf sets out to search for the Metal Islands. Leading the expedition is legendary Hell Diver Xavier Rodriguez. After enduring a decade on the poisoned surface, his survival skills will be put to the test on the dangerous open seas. But storms, sea monsters, and the cannibalistic Cazadores aren't the only threat to X and his small crew. Their mission will uncover hard truths about the history of the war that left humankind stranded in the air for centuries. The fate of those still living on the airships might very well rest on this perilous journey to find a new home.

Great cliffhanger ending. Smith has an awesome story here. RC Bray hits another home run. The only thing, and I mean the one and only thing wrong is that I have to wait months for the next book in the series!

I was so looking forward to this audible book. But why, oh why, has the narrator changed? Pierce was great and performed sneakiness to a tea, but Loving’s doldrum narration made it hard for me to stick it out to the end, distinguish characters, or enjoy what could have been a an awesome ending. I kept having to rewind to get back into the story. What should have been lively banter fell flat.

Sheriff Hayden Duke was born on the Pilgrim, and he expects to die on the Pilgrim, like his father, and his father before him. That's the way things are on a generation starship centuries from home. He's never questioned it. Never thought about it. And why bother? Access points to the ship's controls are sealed, the systems that guide her automated and out of reach. It isn't perfect, but he has all he needs to be content. Until a malfunction forces his engineer wife to the edge of the habitable zone to inspect the damage.

And now her skills are sorely needed. Hundreds of Vastalimi - including her blood-kin - are mysteriously dying. But is the plague a work of nature? Or is it a bioengineered virus, purposefully unleashed?

The first interstellar war, a generation ago, left humanity enslaved. Now humans fight in the armies of their masters to save themselves from annihilation. At least that's what the propaganda insists is true. What the layers of lies keep hidden is how badly the new war is going for the people of earth. Now it's Dylan Kane's turn to blast into the heavens and join the battle, but what his masters don't know is that by putting a weapon in his hands, they're giving him the key to unlocking his hopes of freedom.

Lieutenant Callum Harper hadn't intended on punching his commanding officer quite so hard. But maybe it wasn't such a bad turn of events. Court-martialed and dumped on a reject raft bound for Earth, Cal feels optimistic about a life where getting blown up, shot, or even eaten is altogether less of a concern. And, more importantly, a life where the only person he's responsible for is himself.

Cal is a great main character. He finds himself booted out of the military and considering a life without responsibility for others, but of course, the universe has other plans for him. I love strong male figures with a heart, And the story really delivers. Along with his other military rejects, A badass Young military private female who relishes fighting, a tech guru and his synthetic human wife, and a reality game show star & surfer dude, and an old friend who is a big game hunter, they out wit a greedy casino owner and steal his fastest ship. They then begin their journey to rescue a planet full of enslaved military personnel. What else could you want in the military sci-fi drama!

On the worlds of the Iron Belt, the heavily industrialized sector near the Confederation's Core, massive shipyards operate around the clock, producing the great vessels that can end the war. The Union knows it cannot win the economic struggle with its wealthier, more productive enemy, and Sector Nine, its feared spy agency, is not idle. Their focus is not on the front lines, the ravaged border between the two nations, but far off, beyond the Rim, in the strange, militaristic realm known as the Alliance.
