In a crowded courtroom in Mississippi, a jury returns a shocking verdict against a chemical company accused of dumping toxic waste into a small town's water supply, causing the worst "cancer cluster" in history. The company appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court, whose nine justices will one day either approve the verdict or reverse it.

Where does Considering the Horse rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've read/listened to every Mark Rashid book on here and all I can say is, Mark.... write faster.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Considering the Horse?

Doc.... I went through that with Star, my old horse, but I had him put down, not shot. I did the same as Walter, feeding him, getting a Equine Dentist for him, anything I could think of. My Vet said I gave Star 5 years more than he ever thought I could and he was in great shape due to that, until his decline which took about a month. I had a hard time letting him go. But, I'll see him again when I get home and, we'll go for a ride.

What about Kevin Young’s performance did you like?

Kevin's read was as if he were Mark telling it, isn't that the best anyone can do. Kevin was invisible, which is how he should be. That is perfect to me.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think I answered that already.

Any additional comments?

Mark Rashid.... write faster. I was so excited to see this released, finally I had something to listen to when I'm mowing, fixing fences or driving to town. Now.... I have to find something to listen to. I will listen to anything you want to write, about horses.

What would have made Natural Health, Natural Medicine better?

If he actually offered something other than the same stupid info you can get anywhere.

Has Natural Health, Natural Medicine turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, and I've read a book of his before. It was great, inciteful and helpful. These two are daylight and dark from each other.

How could the performance have been better?

Seriously monotone.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Serious disappointment in the lack of inciteful information.

Any additional comments?

I could have said what he said in this book and I'll save everyone time. He said, eat only vegetables and legumes, no seasonings and drink only water. Which is as stupid as it gets and the most boring way to eat ever, we weren't given all this food to eat like that. I will tell you a diet that will work. If God made it, eat it. He didn't make coke or margarine or pop tarts. He did make meat and fruit and vegetables and butter. If it had a life source, you absorb it's life source by eating it. If no life source, you get no life. This book is just stupid. There is so much more to what foods can do for you, he wasted a lot of time telling us not to eat anything with flavor. Fake food, fake body. Real food, real body. We are starving ourselves by eating things with no life source. We eat and eat and eat, yet we are starving to death, while weighing 200 pounds. Eat some food.

Many horse trainers, even those who espouse the so-called natural horsemanship approach, take the position that horses who fail to obey a human's request are doing so as much out of perversity as ignorance. That's not Mark Rashid's view. In his words, "If we understand that horses can't separate the way they feel from the way they act, then we can start to see that unwanted behavior isn't bad behavior at all. More times than not, it's just the horse expressing the way he feels at that particular moment in time....

Would you consider the audio edition of Whole Heart, Whole Horse to be better than the print version?

It's about time somebody said what the horse needs, not jsut how to make them do what you want them to do. This is how to have a relationship with a horse, to understand why they need what they need and what they need on their side of the relationship. It's great.

What other book might you compare Whole Heart, Whole Horse to and why?

"Snowman" reminded me of this book. Horses will tell us what they need and who they are, if we stop, shut up, and listen to what they're saying, by what they do. They tell the truth and that catches a human off guard. They mean it when they say it. There needs to be more shut up and listen with horses, maybe then even people who don't want to ride a horse will want the amazing relationship they have to offer, even if you never get on their backs. There is nothing like a horse and what's more amazing is the gift of seeing what we could be, if we were more like them.

Which scene was your favorite?

Sometimes the best thing you can do for the mental stability of a horse is to let them run, not make them run, let them run. That horses are natural followers and will follow a leader, if they can trust their leader. Trust is the greatest gift a horse has to offer. Being trustworthy is the best gift we have to give back, and to learn we possess.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the black showed up.

What about Dan Cashman’s performance did you like?

I liked his performance, but whoever engineered the recording needs to pay more attention to his recording levels. It got quiet and then loud, and loud is better. I have 92 acres to mow and I listen while I'm mowing. I can always turn it down, but I had it all the way up and sometimes I couldn't hear it, then the level would change and it took my ears off.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have 6 horses, so I love an underdog hero horse story.

This has caused me to want to finish my book, " For The Love Of A Horse".

Spanning two years on the circuit, from Kentucky and California to New York and Paris, Horse Heaven, puts us among trainers, nervey jockeys, billionaire breeders, and restless track wives.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, It's a tediously long stroy. I want the Reader's Digest Condensed version.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Too many characters introduced that are not mentioned other than their set up, which I consider a loss lead. Don't introduce me to someone that will go away and I really didn't care about any of them.... any of them.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Learn properly how to pronounce American words.

Did Horse Heaven inspire you to do anything?

Nope. Maybe not to bet on horses since there is so much crap going on.

Any additional comments?

Author needs to concentrate on, Who's stroy is it anyway? I still don't know. Eileen is the only character completely developed, and I liked when she was the focus.

The horse Susan Richards chose for rescue wouldn't be corralled into her waiting trailer. Instead, Lay Me Down, a former racehorse with a foal close on her heels, walked right up that ramp and into Susan's life. This gentle creature, malnourished, plagued by pneumonia and an eye infection, had endured a rough road, but somehow her heart was still open and generous.

I don't know. I didn't read the print version. I buy these because I love good story, but have a 92 acre farm, 42 animals and a full time job by myself. I can't sit with a book, but I surely can mow something with one read to me.

What other book might you compare Chosen by a Horse to and why?

Snowman was GREAT too, because both show you that your background doesn't have to dictate who you are. You have the power to be better than that.

What about Lorna Raver’s performance did you like?

She was amazing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried, knowing her pain. I come from a disfunctional family, but who doesn't, and I lost my horse Star,so I knew her pain. If Christ is coming back on one, then they must be in heaven. I told Star to wait at the gate and we'd go for a ride when I get there. LayMeDown and Star both had most likely been mistreated, but Star chose to trust me and every morning I miss going out and not hearing his morning Hohoho... Ya got any Sweet Feed, Mom?

Any additional comments?

It was a wonderful book and I'm grateful the Author finally followed her dream, to write a book.
