Ranch owner Cane Kirk lost more than his arm in the war. He lost his way, battling his inner demons by challenging any cowboy unfortunate enough to get in his way. No one seems to be able to cool him down, except beautiful Bodie Mays. Bodie doesn’t mind saving Cane from himself, even if he is a little too tempting for her own peace of mind. But soon Bodie’s the one who finds herself in need of rescuing - only, she’s afraid to tell Cane what’s really going on. How can she trust someone as unpredictable as this fierce cowboy? When her silence only ends up getting her into even deeper hot water, it’s up to Cane to save the day.

When she had to look over the massive queen size bed (which is not massive) even a good narrator could not save the book. This is perhaps a junior high quality book. Had to return. I’m guessing her subliminal messages (author must be a take from those working and give to those who won’t) for clean fuel, not being fair ... those with money should help the poor. I do t read to hear your messages, I read for a believable tale. Author is now placed on my never to read list.

The Cajun dive in the middle of the godforsaken swamps wasn't exactly Trap Dawkins' idea of fun. But the GhostWalker wasn't there for a good time. He was looking for her. Cayenne. It's where she found her victims. Poor suckers. Then again, who wouldn't want to leave a place like this with a woman like her? It's not Cayenne's fault. Locked up, experimented on, and never knowing kindness, she was bred this way - with a heart of pure venom. Trap understands her.

I'm over 9 hours in this book waiting, waiting, waiting for a plot, a story, something. What I'm getting is the description of sex. There is 7 hours to go and I've begun to hit the fast forward. A shame really because the Ghostwalker series is one of my absolute favorites. This book, gah. The only, only saving grace is Tom Stechschukte.

The last time Sophie saw sexy P.I. Anatoly Darinsky, he practically danced a jig when she waved goodbye; a normal reaction for a man who'd nearly bought the farm trying to protect her from her own foolishness. What are the chances he'd agree to take incriminating pictures of her sister's philandering husband? Or that he'd let her tag along, you know, for research?

This new series begins with Cannon and Yvette's story (Cannon showed up in Getting Rowdy, Love Undercover series book 3). Cannon had such potential for a great story unfortunately Lori Foster didn't make it happen. Yvette is (I won't actually say too stupid to live) is too lame, no backbone, always feeling like everyone is pitying her. And, with 3 hours left in the book I don't see a miraculous improvement for her character. Not much action or suspense, plenty of tiptoeing around a tepid romance. I can only hope the next book in the series picks back. The 1st series is Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, 2nd is Love Undercover and now Ultimate. The narration is great for these three series. Actually I probably wouldn't have made it through the first chapter of No Limits without returning otherwise.

Joy Randall's Top-five tips for vampire hunters: Location, location, location. Vampires won't be caught dead (ha!) in places like discos, 10-minute lube shops, or Switzerland. Remember, if you wouldn't be there, neither would a bloodsucker. Trust your eyes. You know the handsome, annoyingly arrogant, self-assured man in the shadows with long hair and a cleft in his chin? He's your vampire. No matter how tempting it might be, do not "accidentally" acquire a paper cut on your finger and suggest your vampire kiss it to make it better....

The only saving grace in this book was the narrator. The lead female was irritating at best. The only reason I didn't return this book was based on others reviews thinking surely there was some substance but nada.

This might be a teenagers' good listen, but I expect more adult attitudes in the books I read and/or listen to. Not a female that isn't a person I could stay in a room with for more than 5 minutes without losing my mind.

Katie MacAlister, while a very good author, this book is a complete miss.

At first I thought ugh, gotta return. But hey, it's Showalter and a great narrator give it more time. So glad I did. The narrator definitely made the story. I couldn't have read the book nor have listened to a female narrator attempt it. The story is good, small amount of suspense. IMO it's more the h/h characters relationship evolving.

A rough listen. But you did learn the horror of how Styxx and Acheon were manipulated. One review said 'a lot of copy and paste'. I disagree. Yes there was some and not necessarily verbatim but necessary to the story. I'm a Dark Hunter fan, and felt the need to listen to the whole book for a better understanding yet I will NOT listen to it again. Even Acheron's book had the second half able to reread more thn once. Styxx was a 31 hour, 8 minute book. Only the last hour is worth listening to again. Quite frankly I wouldn't do it.
