At last, the full story behind Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman's epic romance, including stories, portraits, and the occasional puzzle. How did they do it? They came from completely different families, endured a significant age difference, and were separated by the gulf of several social strata. Megan loved books and art history; Nick loved hammers. But much more than these seemingly unsurpassable obstacles were the values they held in common: respect, decency, the ability to mention genitalia in almost any context, and an abiding obsession with the songs of Tom Waits.

Time literally flew by listening to this book. These two are hilarious, adorable, and super likeable, which should surprise absolutely no one. The singular problem with this book is MOST women will realize how totally disappointing their relationship with their significant other is in comparison to the way Nick passionately loves Megan. She is clearly the sun and the moon to him, and her feelings for him seem pretty mutual. If you think you would enjoy some easy breezy listening that just makes you feel good, this is the book for you.

If you've ever laughed your way through David Sedaris's cheerfully misanthropic stories, you might think you know what you're getting with Calypso. You'd be wrong. When he buys a beach house on the Carolina coast, Sedaris envisions long, relaxing vacations spent playing board games and lounging in the sun with those he loves most. And it's as idyllic as he imagined, except for one tiny, vexing realization: it's impossible to take a vacation from yourself. With Calypso, Sedaris sets his formidable powers of observation - and dark humor - toward middle age and mortality.

I have always loved David Sedaris's books. His stories are funny, emotional and sentimental. We're roughly the same age so I identify with a lot of his childhood memories as well as what he's going through now in middle age. This book is no exception, and maybe my favorite thus far. This is the first audiobook I've gotten by David Sedaris, and it just made it better listening to him read his own words. Highly recommend it!

I really enjoyed this story! When you listen to audiobooks and the actors have to do both female and male voices, as well as children's voices, they don't always pull them off so well, and that was definitely the case with this one. The actress that did Rachel's voice chose a strange way of speaking that I found extremely annoying but got used to after a while. And neither actress was able to successfully do the children's voices. It's for this reason that I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5. But I still highly recommend it.

Louie Anderson has been channeling his beloved mom in his iconic stand-up comedy for decades - but she passed away before getting to see him reach new heights with his breakout role. Hey Mom is Louie's way of catching Ora Zella Anderson up on everything that has been going on in his life, including his continued struggles with food and family, but also how so much has changed for the better. He also has plenty of laugh-out-loud stories about his incredibly resilient mother and his 10 siblings, as well as observations on the absurdities of life.

I've always loved Louie Anderson, I mean what's not to love? But after listening to his book where he writes letters to his mother whom he lost almost 30 years ago, I love him even more. The book is funny, profound, and at times, a bit sad. I certainly identify when he talks about his alcoholic father, and the mother who provided all of the love that he needed. I'm glad I got the audio book instead of reading it myself because it really comes to life listening to the author himself read aloud. Highly recommend! Now I need to go call my mom...

If You're In My Office, It's Already Too Late. James Sexton knows this. After dealing with over 1000 clients whose marriages have dissolved over everything from an ill-advised threesome with the nanny to the uneven division of carpool duties, he also knows all of the what- not-to-dos for couples who want to build - and consistently work to preserve - a lasting, fulfilling relationship. Described by former clients as a "courtroom gunslinger" and "the sociopath you want on your side", Sexton tells the unvarnished truth about relationships. These usually derive from dishonest communication.

I truly enjoyed this book. A lot of lessons about how to be a better spouse so you don't end up needing a lawyer, or how to be a decent person if divorce is inevitable. I've been married almost 17 years, and I'll be the first to admit that marriage is hard. I'm always looking for ways to make it less challenging as well as remembering to appreciate the good things that can easily be taken for granted. This book helped me with both. In fact, I want my spouse to listen to it next. Mr. Sexton is an awesome narrator and story teller, and by the time you are done listening to this book, I'm pretty sure most will think twice about going through a divorce without really giving their marriage their best shot. I also don't want to forget to mention how hard I laughed at many of Mr. Sexton' s stories. Highly recommended this book.

The story was outstanding - kept me riveted the whole time. The actor that read the story did a fantastic job, with every voice, with every accent, he brought the story to life. It didn't hurt that he's an actor on one of my favorite TV shows. Planning on downloading the very next book in the series immediately.

Indy Savage is a former wild child (okay, maybe not so "former") and current used-bookstore owner. Lee Nightingale is a former bad boy and now runs a private investigation service. Toss together a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side-business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns, and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, then hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride.

I only made it to chapter 7. I'm not sure if it was the storyline, the acting, or a combination of both, but I did not enjoy this book. Besides the fact that I felt a lot of the writing was repetitive ( how many times can this character say f*** f*** f*** and s*** s*** s***) but I also didn't like how the romantic lead in the story was overbearing, controlling, and expecting to have sex with the heroine whether she wanted to or not. I guess we're supposed to forgive that because we know she's been in love with the guy forever, but I found it offensive. I only made it to chapter 7, then checked to see how many chapters were left, and knew I couldn't listen to this through the end. I think the writer tried to create a "will they/won't they" storyline, so when they finally get together it'll be climactic, but for me she missed the mark. She also made the main heroine too air headed for me. For readers who loved this book, I apologize, I guess it's just not for me.

It was like having the coolest best friend ever and now she's moved away. I decided to rewatch all the Parks and Rec so I can have her back for a brief time. Buy the book, it's a keeper.
