We're the D'Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we are savvy - and sexy - operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah shapeshifts into a tabby cat whenever she's stressed. Menolly's a vampire who is still trying to get the hang of being undead. And me? I'm Camille - a wicked-good witch. Except my magic is as unpredictable as the weather, which my enemies are about to find out the hard way.

I zipped through all 18 books, back-to-back and didn't lose interest. The books rotate through the three sisters, in order throughout the series. It makes for a different point of view in each book and that helped to hold my interest. However, I think that because the heroines were strong, intelligent, courageous and likable (as well as the same for the supporting cast) is why I enjoyed them the most. Besides, who can complain about a woman having and managing well, with three husbands?!?!

The series has action, adventure, romance, angst, and humor within easily understandable and non-laborious world building. This one has it all, vampires, fairie queens, elves, demons, dragons, & things I've never heard of. But the author weaves it all together gracefully. There have been many books that I've quickly returned because the world-building was a real grind. I've learned to avoid anything over 13 hours because that seems to be the case if they need that long to get through their story.

Anyway, back to the review. I would have gladly used credits for this series. But even BETTER, most of the books were in the romance package and that made me extra happy:)

You can’t turn on the news nowadays without getting bombarded by stories about the Rebels. They look so scary on TV - blowing things up, knocking things down, terrorizing the declining city of Corona, and making sure even the rubble doesn’t go unscathed. My father is the reigning Arcane Master of Fire. Since he’s a prominent figure in both politics and magic, it only makes sense that my family is a target. Still, I never expected to encounter a Rebel leader in person. I never imagined I’d be drawn to him, either.

I found this book to be entertaining & it held my interest. That’s saying something since I seem to be more prone to returning books lately.
Anyway, the heroine was strong & likeable along with her male interests. She kind of bugged me with her repetition if the problems being her fault. She had a part but it’s really the fault of the bad guys. But then she’s young & the world revolves around her.
This book was a new take on paranormals for me & I’ve been into that genre for over 2 years now. The world building wasn’t laborious as some new ideas tend to do. The book was worth a credit to me. And I’ll happily use another on the next in the series.

This is one of her darker books , but it’s still well written & fascinating to listen to. This is my second time since I wanted to re-listen to Sasha’s story in ‘Wasted Lust’ but part-way through I realized I needed to go back to Ford’s story & then this one. I’m glad I did & will most likely listen to it all again next year. Her books are just that good.

I love Huss’s books. I think she is one of the best authors on Audible. But I stopped listening part way thru & only finished it because the next one referred to happenings in this one that I wanted to hear firsthand.

I usually quit listening & return books with this kind of lead heroine. I find them repugnant & am unsympathetic because they are just mean bitches.
I’d describe her as hostile, abusive & disrespectful while demanding respect for her independence & competence - of which this gal repeatedly proved herself to be selfish, stupid & deluded about her ability to take care of herself. She took it one step further to even be panic stricken at being left alone for 5 minutes. Ya, ya ya, these gals are usually justified somehow because of some trauma in their past that justifies their behavior.

Nope, I don’t like wasting my time in these types of characters. But leave it to Huss to have a lot more going on so I listened & have enough respect for her writing that I won’t return it. But sorry. I still wouldn’t recommend this book. The info wasn’t that revealing for the series. I’d leave this one as a stand-alone alone.

Come ON! JA Huss is totally RAD and I'm a sixty something female & avid Audible listener who LOOOOVES her books. But Pair her with J McClain & I would liken their writing to two of my VERY favorite authors: Jordan Castillo Price & Dani Alexander. Why you say? Because their writing is fresh, raw, twisted, hysterical, sophisticated, sexy, totally off-the-wall, tender and OOOH SOOO very cleaver. I am in AWE of this kind of talent. (reverent pause here)

All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you. I will definitely relisten and reflect on this series again.
And ABSOLUTELY pre-order anything else you two come up with!

The Witch's Reign...a land of unnatural hellish cold ruled over by the Ice Witch herself, who is in turn guarded by three creatures - Wolf, Bear, and Raven. Those lovely beasts derive their power directly from their mistress and just happen to kill any who cross their paths. To get there, you first must pass through the Dragon's Ground. Full of, you guessed it, dragons who for the record, also do not like trespassers. Sounds like a fun place to go, doesn't it? Yeah, not so much.
