Worst part of this book is that I was left wanting more, but this is the final book in one of my favorite series. Luke Daniels will always be Atticus to me! I wonder why this has to end, feels like there are so many more avenues to take these characters! I loved listening to every single book, the "inbetweens" and Oberon's Meaty Mysteries. The storyline felt right, I love that the Iron Druid will still outsmart everyone in the end, but I wish we could be there with him when he does. Thank you Kevin Hearne for this wonderful cast of characters and stories who kept me company for so many hours!

A lifetime ago, brutally efficient fixer Phil Kubiak coldly cleaned up the messes of shady clients from Miami to Las Vegas by any means necessary - short of murder. Now he's one eye and one working leg short of the man he used to be, scarred beyond recognition, and with the feds and criminal organizations in hot pursuit. Throwing back sour beer in a dingy bar, Phil recounts the long story of his bitter life to the only person left to listen.

Mayberry warrants better narration. Monotonous voice inflection was too irritating to listen to. Aborted mission a quarter of the way through. Poor production failed to catch obvious issues...sentances broken at the wrong place for narrator to take ill timed breaths...no attention to where emphasis needed to be. If you are looking to be read to this is fine, if you are looking to be entertained get the hard copy.

On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Story was forced with poor character development. Unrealistic coincidences pushed story along and most of the human aspects were hard to accept.....mostly all of the parts involving women. But we all fantasize about following through with a list of people with zero complexity ....who are 100 % evil so we can kill with zero guilt. Interesting to learn authentic facts about weapons tactics and gear but in a poorly constructed story this also seemed like noise.

Story is not very exciting. Main character is a dominating male seeking to sleep with "his" women. Not a good time politically for this series. The fact that all of the women are OK with sharing this guy is hard to get on board with unless you are also a 20 year old guy. Overall just a silly little fantasy story with no real start or ending. Kind of like a porno but with a great narrator.
