Taramina could survive slavery, even as a pet in Prium’s Intergalactic Lounge. She always knew she’d escape. She just didn’t know escape would come in the form of a powerful, handsome male of her own species. Especially one whose rough handling incites a fever in her she hasn’t felt before. But she intends to make a fresh start, which means severing ties with the dominant Zandian who once held her collar and a leash. The male who knows just how to master her. No, she can’t be his pet. Not after what she’s been through. So why does she keep coming back for more?

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I've read a number of books in this series and Zandian Pet is a good addition. I read these fur the erotica aspect, as I'm not much of a space opera fan, and some of the previous books in the series have bored me with plot, when I was just looking for the sexy parts. This one is fairly plot heavy, but it did engage me, even though it's not really my thing--maybe it was because I listened to it on audio? The erotic scenes were very good--Renee Rose is always great when it comes to that aspect!

The narrator was great, but at 1x speed the audiobook was bizarrely slow! I had to speed up to at least 1.5x for it to even sound normal.

Sam - I was born in a lab, fostered out to humans, then tortured in a cage. Fate allowed me to escape, and I know why. To balance the scales of justice. Right the misdeeds of the harvesters. Nothing matters but taking down the man who made me what I am: A monster driven by revenge, whatever the cost. Then I meet Layne. She thinks I’m a hero. But she doesn’t understand...if I don’t follow this darkness to its end, it will consume me. Layne - I’ve spent my life in the lab, researching the cure for the disease that killed my mom. No late nights out, no dates.

I will repeat my complaint from the last audiobook I listened to from this author--if you have both male and female first person POV in a romance novel, get two narrators! But aside from that, the narrator was pretty good.

I knew this probably wasn't my kind of book (shapeshifters have never appealed to me) but I like the author so I thought I'd give it a try. And it was surprisingly more engaging than I expected! I think if you are a fan of these shifter type of books, this would appeal to you. It was action packed and sexy, but with much less BDSM than Renee Rose's books usually have, which was a bit of a disappointment. I didn't like it enough to read any more books in the series, but it did keep my attention and I would recommend it to fans of the genre.

I warned you. I told you not to set foot in my casino again. I told you to stay away. Because if I see those hips swinging around my suite, I’ll pin you against the wall and take you hard. And once I make you mine, I’m not going to set you free. I’m king of the Vegas underground, and I take what I want. So run. Stay the hell away from my casino. Or I’ll tie you to my bed. Put you on your knees. Break you. So come to me, beautiful, if you dare....

I received a copy of this audiobook free from the author in exchange for an honest review...so I don't feel great about leaving a negative review, but this just wasn't for me.

First, the narration didn't work for me. Even though this has alternating first person perspectives, there is just one male narrator. His voice didn't work for me as the female main character at all. In my opinion, men are less believable doing women's voices than vice versa, but in any case there should have been two narrators. Hearing the male narrator refer to "my panties" and "my pussy" when he's narrating as Sondra was...uhhhh, not ideal. As far as the male main character, Nico, I hated his Jersey Shore accent. It may have been appropriate, but it didn't work for a sexy romance novel for me.

As for the story, I think the mafia thing is not really for me, although this was really mafia-lite. Just not appealing to me, but if you like that sort of thing, this might work better for you. And, another matter of personal taste, I'm not into hot-headed, short-tempered doms--I prefer steely and self-controlled, so Nico wasn't really to my liking. Sondra was fine, but kind of generic.

On the plus side, as always, Renee Rose writes good sex scenes, pretty light on the BDSM in this one, but there's some great dirty talk (if only it was in a different accent...) So, while this one wasn't for me, I think a lot of people will like it if they're into hot-headed, dirty-talking mafia men with a flashy Vegas lifestyle.

A masterful true crime account of the Golden State Killer - the elusive serial rapist turned murderer who terrorized California for over a decade - from Michelle McNamara, the gifted journalist who died tragically while investigating the case.

This was terrifying! The audio made it a little hard to follow all the different cases and timeline jumps at times (there is a PDF that helps, but I wasn't able to constantly refer to it while listening), but over all I found this extremely compelling and fascinating. The Golden State Killer's crimes were terrifying and I made extra sure my doors were locked at night after listening to the descriptions of his night time break-ins, rapes, and murders.

I found Michelle's own obsession with the crime endearing, and it makes me so sad that she died before finishing the book, and that if her target is ever identified, she won't be here to see it. But I'm so glad that those around her worked to finish the book and share Michelle's work with the world.
