The narrators were decent. The struggle with accents had me tuning out here and there.

The story itself was rather off putting. I do want to try this author again, she has some potential and I can see myself liking her style of writing in a different setting. I’m not sure what her biggest offense in this book was for me. Maybe the attempted juxtaposition of personality traits in minor characters and the inconsistencies. For example, a murderer who calls another man a murderer in an appalling manner as part of his reasoning as to why the man wasn’t good enough for his daughter. A father who is overprotective of his child yet okay with the obviously abusive and controlling ways of her fiancé. Or, maybe the most offensive for me was the way Cole slighted and tiptoed past very traumatic events and emotions without giving them any depth.

I just wouldn’t recommend this book. But, I would like to try something different from the author. There are some major triggers in this book so if choosing to read be prepared.

I am a big fan of Tijan. I was actually surprised as to how long it took me to read this series. The first two books were okay, not her best but I still (mostly) enjoyed them. But, this book is quite honestly cringey. I ended up fast forwarding thru part of the ending. It was incredibly repetitive in an overly wordy sort of way. The worse part, though, and why I would tell everyone to just stay away from this series or be disappointed is that it didn’t make any sense. She attempted to tie 3 books and multiple under developed characters into the ending with 7 different explanations. None of which made sense. Granted it took turns that were unexpected. However it was done in a way that made me roll my eyes and literally shout at the book. It was horrible. Such a horrible awful last half of the book. The term “tryhard” comes to mind. It felt like a completely different author wrote it. I am very disappointed.

Meanwhile, I really liked the narrator.

It should have been easy. I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death. I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent. The worst part is that I should have known better. Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes. “Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.” Guess what? I didn’t listen. I signed the contract. World tour. Three months. Four Continents. 100 shows. My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god.

I don’t even know where to start. Honestly, I find R. L. Mathewson to be funny but after what I think is book 4 of this series that I’ve read, I also find the characters one dimensional and the running jokes getting old. Literally, she is writing the exact same male and female leads with one or two quirks that make them slightly different from her previous ones. This book particularly grated on my nerves. Can you please tell me how the Drs also seem to be her gynos? Did they have specialties out of the same office no less without speaking of them. And, at what point did you forget that if her endometriosis was that bad where she was getting a hysterectomy among other things, she managed to have painless sex. One of the first signs of endometriosis is pain during intercourse. Marybeth’s playing the martyr over and over and over and over was incredibly annoying. That wasn’t love. This book was a mess. The narrator was good, I just think she needs some help on the dad voices, she has them sounding like they are 80 year old men.

First, although I wasn’t a huge fan of his femal voices, I love Jacob Morgan’s voice. It’s incredibly sexy. Virginia Rose did well to compliment him.

Second, this entire book was about 43.7 different romance novel and movie cliches thrown together. It was well written, but extremely predictable. Like I saw the ending coming in when the author first introduced the character. It was obvious. If you are okay with the same 6 love stories being recycled and rolled up into 1, this is the perfect book for you. I didn’t hate it, it was just very disappointing.

This was a good book. I want to read more by the author, hopefully within this same series. I am looking forward to what she has planned for the supporting characters, especially Anton.

I appreciated most of the characters. However, I felt outside of Thea, they really weren’t developed as
well as they could have been. Especially Damien, even with the back story, he was rather bland. I understand being a man of few words but he didn’t talk for half of the book. The only real rapport they had were intense feelings and immature arguments.

The sharp transitions without chapter breaks really bothered me. Maybe it would be better if reading versus listening? Either way, I was confused several times with the abrupt changes. I rewinded just to ensure I hadn’t missed anything.

Normally I don’t mind the transition of character POV but when using a supporting character to help explain a major plot line, it seems a bit lazy. Fiore has potential but didn’t quite figure out how to polish this gem to make it sparkle.

The narrator was decent. She went back and forth between characters without distracting from the story.

Did this review seem a bit choppy to you? That’s how I felt about the book.

I am struggling with this book. Why? Because the narrators don't work together. The female sounds like a girl and the male sounds like a grown man in a midlife crisis. I can't get past it. I'm on chapter 22. Waiting for the storyline to shift. It's not poorly written but the voices just don't match for me. It's honestly creeping me out.
