ABC News anchor Dan Harris used to think that meditation was for people who collect crystals, play Ultimate Frisbee, and use the word namaste without irony. After he had a panic attack on live television, he went on a strange and circuitous journey that ultimately led him to embrace a practice he'd long considered ridiculous. Harris discovered that meditation made him more focused and less yanked around by his emotions. According to his wife, it also made him significantly less annoying.

I have the first book and the app. I enjoy the intro and stories but the cursing was so inappropriate for such well-educated folks wanting their work to be shared with the masses. There are so many people that I could not share this with due to the distraction of swear words. Shame that nobody dealt with thus as a topic during production.

Finding Ultra is Rich Roll's incredible but true account of achieving one of the most awe-inspiring midlife physical transformations ever. One evening in 2006, before turning 40, Rich experienced a chilling glimpse of his future. Nearly 50 pounds overweight at the time and unable to climb the stairs without stopping, he plunged into a new way of eating that made processed foods off-limits and prioritized plant nutrition and daily training. Rich morphed - in mere months - from out-of-shape midlifer to endurance machine. Revised and updated edition with a new and original foreword and a bonus chapter.

Enjoyed the audible book

Nothing earth shattering but I was looking for something that focuses on weight loss. It's short but enjoyable. Could have done without the section on people who have said negative things about weight as I feel once that's done, why keep revisiting that? But I am new to this stuff so there probably is a good reason.
A website which I cannot mention here per guidelines is mentioned in the audio but redirects back here to Audible - Is there actually a website?

Fat is an obsession, a dirty word, a subject of national handwringing - and, according to biochemist Sylvia Tara, the least understood part of our body. You may not love your fat, but your body certainly does. In fact your body is actually endowed with many self-defense measures to hold on to fat. For example, fat can use stem cells to regenerate; increase our appetite if it feels threatened; and use bacteria, genetics, and viruses to expand itself. The secret to losing 20 pounds? You have to work with your fat, not against it.

I think the science, case studies and research information was fabulous. For this I giver a 5. As a RN I was so interested in this book and could not put it down so to speak. But her ending about her strict deprivational dieting, exercising and described suffering - white knuckling her life and using intermittent fasting was not the message I wanted to hear. I give that a 1. I was thinking that I hope she never pushes herself fully into a binge eating disorder. I do not think the final message is a healthy pattern to emulate.Skinny jeans are nice but she is totally obsessed and it left me feeling sad for her.
