A shadowy figure known as the Dog is believed to be the ruthless terrorist who is systematically and savagely assassinating American diplomats and their families around the globe. As the deadly toll mounts inexorably, Hawke, along with former NYPD cop and Navy SEAL Stokely Jones, is called upon by the U.S. government to launch a search for the assassin behind the murders.

Unoriginal and Predictable

Ear candy with a cookie cutter plot. The narrator was very good with multiple character voices but has the distinction of creating THE MOST ANNOYING voice I have ever heard in Dr. Sung. Hawke was a cartoon hero fighting a cartoon villian. There were several factual errors (the US Navy does not fly F-117 fighters, USAF only) but the plot had no suspense for me. Glad it was on sale.

Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

I rarely consider 2 credit audiobooks but I saw the promo for the HBO series and was curious. After reading the reviews here I knew I would either love it or hate it. Well, love it is. After several restarts at the beginning (to keep the many characters straight) I was hooked. There are several threads working that could all be interesing by themselves, but taken as a whole they are impossible to put down.

I not only plan to listen to the rest of the series, I will also buy and read the books. BTW, if you get the Kindle sample for the book there are maps of the North and the South to help with the geography.

Based on hundreds of interviews with the people who lived the story, Game Change is a reportorial tour de force that reads like a fast-paced novel. Character driven and dialogue rich, replete with extravagantly detailed scenes, this is the occasion-ally shocking, often hilarious, ultimately definitive account of the campaign of a lifetime.

I thought I knew what happened in the 2008 election. Turned out I only knew the surface. If you like the backstory this is a very creditworthy book. The authors did their homework and explained a lot of the ins and outs of an historic presidential campaign.
