I love this book most as this is where it all really starts coming together. Much needed detail explains so much. However I am not fond of Dale's narration. All of the female characters he makes sound whiny and wimpy and annoying when they are at least as strong as the male characters. Dale is the only flaw in this book though.

The year is 1771. Claire Randall is still an outlander, out of place and out of time. But now she is linked by love to her only anchor: Jamie Fraser. They have crossed oceans and centuries to build a life together in North Carolina. But tensions, both ancient and recent, threaten members of their clan. Knowing that his wife has the gift of prophecy, James must believe Claire, though he would prefer not to. Claire has shared a dreadful truth: there will, without a doubt, be a war.

It is about time The Fiery Cross was made available in the unabridged version!!! I love this whole series and was devastated at the abridged version of this book! It was total butchery! Diana is an amazing writer encompassing history and romance with action/adventure, myths and legends and time travel all within an amazing story! And NO ONE could narrate these books other than Davina Porter! Her ability to give each of the characters their own distinct voice allows the reader to know who is speaking without being told and she has a firm grasp on each personality so that it makes the listener feel as if they are not only a part of the story but a part of the family as well. Can't wait for book 8!!!

A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the saga of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century, time-traveling wife, Claire. The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the burden of knowing that war cannot be avoided.

Why bother with making an audio version of a book if you are just going to BUTCHER it beyond recognition!! I have read this book and it is incredible but your butchered version is an insult to the effort the author put into her story! Being a very busy single mom I prefer to take my books on the go on my ipod and Diana Gabaldon is my favorite and keeps me entertained throughout the many hours I spend on the road and at work! Please, I BEG you, provide us with an unabridged version read by Davina Porter A.S.A.P.!!! The same goes for A Breath of Snow and Ashes, unabridged and read by Ms. Porter. Ms. James is good but she is not the Claire, Jaimie or any of the other characters we have come to love. I will give 3 credits each to have these done right, in unabridged versions! PLEASE! This doesn't even deserve a half star rating!
