Sixty-nine-year-old Arthur Pepper lives a simple life. He gets out of bed at precisely 7:30 a.m., just as he did when his wife, Miriam, was alive. He dresses in the same gray slacks and mustard sweater-vest; waters his fern, Frederica; and heads out to his garden. But on the one-year anniversary of Miriam's death, something changes. Sorting through Miriam's possessions, Arthur finds an exquisite gold charm bracelet he's never seen before.

This story was brilliant! I loved how it intertwined itself around multiple situations. I find myself missing these characters very much. The fact that it is told by a 93 year old woman to a absolute stranger is most intriguing. Well written, well performed!

I enjoyed the various transformations as well as the various landscape. I will continue this series for at least one more book. Perhaps it will end up being all of them. Consider me intrigued.

This story was not as good as the first. To drawn out with silly twist. It was to much like a soap opera for my taste. The readers were not the best! I couldn't stand to hear Monica speak, it was like she never grew up. The bit about Frankie in the end was unnecessary. It did not add value to the story.
