What, according to Tom Peters, Chairman of Tom Peters Company, is the problem with the way people do business today? Well-intentioned people who like to get things done are being thwarted at every step of the way by absurd organizational barriers and by the egos of petty tyrants.

Good book, well worth the listen. Starts to get a *little* tedious by the second half ("I get the point now, thanks") but overall it's worth every penny if you want to think differently and lead others to think differently. Full of real world examples not just bios of successful "re-imagineers" but also how.

The tales of the Norse gods, of the giants, demons, trolls and dwarves, still have the power to fascinate more than a thousand years after they were first told. Here are the stories of the one-eyed god Odin, Tyr the god of war, of the cunning Loki, of Thor the mighty thunder god and a host of others.

It's less about specific mythological stories and more about the overall chronology about the Norse mythos, and it's sometimes oversimplified (Loki Loki Loki!). Nevertheless it's a fun read/listen and entertaining even to those who aren't major fantasy buffs or European pre-history buffs.

Guy Kawasaki's presentations are usually in the form of "top ten" lists, and this goes along with that format. One of my b-school professors had covered the book extensively in class, and I was expecting a little more from this, but as a refresher or even an introduction it's worthwhile. As others have noted, the sound quality is deplorable and it is a little oversimplified, but it should encourate you delve deeper.

Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, Zinn's A People's History is the only volume to tell America's story from the point of view of, and in the words of, its women, factory workers, African Americans, Native Americans, working poor, and immigrant laborers. Here we learn that many of our country's greatest battles (labor laws, women's rights, racial equality) were carried out at the grassroots level, against bloody resistance.

Interesting but Disappointing

As others have noted, this "abridged" version is incomplete. Howard Zinn is a fascinating mind and this audio version of his book doesn't do his research and perspective justice. I will have to get the actual book and actually *gasp* READ it. What *IS* in the audiobook, however, is intriguing and sometimes mind-boggling.

If you don't already have some other reference (written or verbal) then the heavy vocabulary is meaningless. I did not find it easy to memorize words and then try to put them together. If you want to learn Danish all-audio, go with Pimsleur. And yes the pauses between English and Danish are excrutiating. But if all you need is vocabulary or a refresher, this would probably work.

Common sense overview

I have an MBA and have started businesses. This is a good briefing on some common sense - and some not-so-common-sense - guidelines for being prepared to make the leap off the precipice. Consider this audiobook one of the ropes holding your parachute in place. Combined with other, perhaps more detailed educational materials, Before You Quit Your Job can be helpful to its intended audience: those who feel entrepreneurial desires but have lived in the E/S quadrant most of their lives.
