For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare - poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

WAR. It will happen again. We must be ready. Sober words from Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a man who has made the unvarnished truth his specialty. And there’s one eternal truth that Americans are in danger of forgetting: the most important weapon in any geopolitical conflict is the will to win. And we must win. In this powerful manifesto, Dr. Gorka explains the basic principles that have guided strategists since Sun Tzu penned The Art of War in the sixth century BC. To defeat your enemy, you must know him. But that’s the last thing liberal elites are interested in.

The Authors seem to advocate, in part, education and reason as a solution. Unfortunately, these options are quite Naive. The West has already tried the soft approach to changing hearts and minds by inviting these populations into our countries, educating them, and caring for them, but the evidence is quite clear that this approach has been an outright failure. It hasn't worked in our countries, it won't work in theirs.

You cannot bounce back from hardship. You can only move through it. There is a path through pain to wisdom, through suffering to strength, and through fear to courage if we have the virtue of resilience. In 2012, Eric Greitens unexpectedly heard from a former SEAL comrade, a brother-in-arms he hadn’t seen in a decade. Zach Walker had been one of the toughest of the tough. But ever since he returned home from war to his young family in a small logging town, he’d been struggling. Without a sense of purpose, plagued by PTSD, and masking his pain with heavy drinking, he needed help. Zach and Eric started writing and talking nearly every day, as Eric set down his thoughts on what it takes to build resilience in our lives.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have listened to all 3 books by Eric Greitens. Unfortunately, I think more than half of each book contains the same stories. There is some new information, but it is quite disappointing to hear the same stories time and time again. This is the first time that I have heard of an author using the same material in all of his books.
Resilience is the best of the 3. I would listen to this one and ignore the others.

The army does not want you to listen to this book. It does not want to advertise its detention system that coddles enemy fighters while putting American soldiers at risk. It does not want to reveal the new lawyered-up Pentagon war ethic that prosecutes US soldiers and marines while setting free spies who kill Americans. This very system ambushed Captain Roger Hill and his men.

When we learn how to do something, it usually starts off as difficult. Before we learn how to walk, we crawl. Before we learn how to write words we learn the alphabet. Before we learn a new language, we first learn the basic greetings and phrases. That is why we start small through step-by-step instructions in order to learn as we go along. When doing so, we break down each practice into smaller aspects until we can learn the entire procedure thanks to prior practice, facilitating it in the process.
