You may be crafting a newspaper story or an admissions essay for college. You may be writing a technical report or drafting your first novel. If you could sum up The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands in three words, what would they be?

Love Your Man!

What other book might you compare The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands to and why?

Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs..Women and their needs are elevated in our culture; men and their needs are downplayed.

Which character – as performed by Dr. Laura Schlessinger – was your favorite?

I just enjoyed hearing many real-life letters and calls described by her.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands?

I will look for things to appreciate about my husband. I will consider his needs and look at things from his perspective as well as my own. I will treat him like I would want to be treated. I will appreciate all the little and big things he does for our family -- not just expect them or take them for granted.

Any additional comments?

I loved that Dr. Laura narrated this herself. I have the hardcover as well, but I am glad I invested a bit more to get this audiobook version. It was excellent. Listened to it in my car so no one could watch me laugh and cry, alternately.....

Wicked wolves and a grim governess threaten Bonnie and her cousin Sylvia when Bonnie's parents leave Willoughby Chase for a sea voyage. Left in the care of the cruel Miss Slighcarp, the girls can hardly believe what is happening to their once happy home. The servants are dismissed, the furniture is sold, and Bonnie and Sylvia are sent to a prison-like orphan school. It seems as if the endless hours of drudgery will never cease.

Gripping tale told masterfully.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bonnie and Jane, of course.

What does Lizza Aiken bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The charming English accent! The fact that she mentions the book was written by her mother was meaningful to me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A fearful turn of events experienced with a true friend in the setting of a quaint English manor and countryside...(long tag line)

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I have enjoyed all of the Nancy Drew books and I am now sharing them with my children. We have enjoyed the audio versions narrated by Laura Linney. Danica Reese's narration, however, doesn't measure up....

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Danica Reese?

Laura Linney.

Was The Sign of The Twisted Candle worth the listening time?

The story was good; the narration distracted from the story.
