What a wonderful story. I was spellbound. I languished over every word. It’s a novella so the total time to listen was about 4 hours.

Kenneth Branagh was an incredible narrator. I have never been so moved as I was listening to his velvet voice.

I assume most everyone has read this novella either in high school or college, so I won’t go into the story line.

I enjoyed hearing it as if I didn’t know the story, this production is that perfect. I suggest it should be one of the top 5 audible recordings ever. Give it a listen. Try to remember all the symbolism that you learned in school.

My favorite parts were the descriptions of nature and the marsh.

The story line was too far fetched for me to believe in.

The incredible story of two Soviet scientists attempting to see if they could domesticate wild foxes by speeding up the evolutionary process into a short period of time.

It also gives a great history of what was (& is) like to be a scientist in the Soviet Russia. against all odds, they have been incredibly successful and have been able to map the Fox's genes to see the differences between the tame foxes and the control group and aggressive foxes.

The story is lovingly told by the narrator.

A new twist to storytelling. All of the stories stay with you long after you have finished listening to them. I am still left wondering about what happened next in each of the stories. very thought provoking.

Very detailed story. I’m not certain what I think yet. I’m having trouble figuring out exactly what this world is and who these characters represent.

a very engrossing story set on the south Carolina barrier islands. great character development of multigenerational women each chapter begins with pertinent information of the endangered loggerhead turtles.

Mary Alice Monroe takes you to a current time and place to immerse you into the natural history of the area and journey with a 40 year old women's self realization.

The characters were very well-developed and I really enjoyed this book. I am anxious to read more of her novels.

NOTE: I read this book during the 2017 August and September hurricane season which made this book very meaningful to me. I noticed that Ms. Monroe had to evacuate her South Carolina home to escape Hurricane Irma. I hope that she and her family are safe and that her home did not sustain damage.

I started and stopped this book a few times. it just did not hold my attention as do all of the other Atwood books that I have loved.

I am usually mesmerized by her clever use of words and foreshadowing. the book gives great detail into each of the characters, but i dont like any of them.

I have just finished this book and maybe I need more time to think about it, but it just isn't up to the very high standards that is present in all of her other books that I have read.

I really enjoyed this book, much more than volumes 1-3 (which I really enjoyed too). the narrator is excellent and gets me completely involved in this urban fantasy.
