I feel touched by this story in so many ways. In some ways I feel cheated by the lack of the smut i want angst to build to in a traditional romance book. However this is not a romance story. It’s a LOVE story. It’s an read you want to focus on and I wish I also had the whisper sync version to go back and reflect upon. The narration was stunning. Julia Whelan is one of the best narrators I’ve ever listened to. And there’s been many. Amazing job. Breathtaking gritty and at times laugh out loud funny read to someone who lives with a sick husband. It makes me realize we need to LIVE not keep reflecting about what could have been. This was transformative reading/listening.

Miller "Buck" Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed-up front teeth. After five years in the NHL, deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies, Miller has decided he's ready for a girlfriend. A real, nonbunny girlfriend to take on dates and not jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation. Miller thinks he's found that woman in his teammate's sister.

In fifth grade my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed. It didn't take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever. For the next seven years, it was us. She's the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

If at any time it feels slow or ya at first, I -IMPLORE- you to KEEP listening and follow it through to the end. This book knocked me down on my backside. I literally had to take some mommy “time out”’s to read parts of Penelope Douglas’ writing. Not just the steamy parts, but the ones that you don’t see coming and hit you emotionally. She tackles so many issues in this book it is amazingly done. The writing is hot and I’d like to mention that the narration is seriously swoon worthy! I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks on Audible and Matthew Holland is a top three narrator crush for me now. Both he and Laurie Winkle did a great job. I loved this book.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases - a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with as well as way less experience in the dating department than the average 30-year-old. It doesn't help that she has Asperger's and that French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. She decides that she needs lots of practice - with a professional - which is why she hires escort Michael Phan.

The Kiss Quotient is one of my top 10 reads in the Romance and even the entire Fiction genre! It is primarily an absolutely beautiful love story. Beyond this, I found it to be a lesson that life and romance can surpass any social or emotional boundaries. The story was meticulously written with a rock solid attention to detail. There was angst, passion and the most tolerant love on both parts of the main characters. I fell head over heels for Stella and Michael. Helen Hoang intermingles two fascinating worlds full of realistic details. Both of which are underrepresented in published writing. This along with Hoang’s vibrant writing style hooked me from the very first chapter if not the first few minutes of listening. I cannot emphasize enough how much I knew about this book when it was first released. This book should be shared throughout and outside the romance readers community as it offers a positive perspective of life living with unique circumstances. Having differences doesn’t have to define or limit our love lives. Anything is possible if you put love and people before labels.
To hard core romance readers:
Don’t let the math vocabulary in the title scare you away. The Kiss Quotient is definitely not for anyone young enough for primary math! It may start turning your belly into a warm fuzzies like a love sick pre-teen, but it will definitely grow into a whole different physical reaction taking you to college calculus and beyond;).

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.” Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true. The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there.

I’m just a simple girl who likes dessert. And sexy men. And social media. So starting an anonymous video channel called The Sexpert as a side hustle to make up for my low-paying marketing job at Le Man Magazine seemed like a perfectly sensible career decision. Until we went viral, my boss accused my anonymous personality of stealing his idea, and now my super sexy new boyfriend, Andrew, is out to get me. Her. Me. Whatever.

Something about the way Huss and McClain write makes the characters come to life in the most intimate way. The inner dialogue of each character is an open window that allows some kind of refreshing breeze of a deeper connection between the reader and the story. It’s hard to find in romance and from what I have experienced, there’s a small handful of authors that seem to have mastered this. An underpriced and unrecognized talent for sure. Hours and hours of escape found in a fun little romance book you can grab for less than a price of the coffee you drink while reading it.
If this Narration doesn’t get nominated for an Audie Award by “Tad Branson” aka Johnathan McClain, I would be shocked and disappointed. He projected every word and emotion masterfully. Awesome book.

No last names. No life stories. Those were the rules. Once upon a time a cocky, copper-haired tourist sauntered into Zara's bar. And even though she knew better, Zara indulged in a cure for the small-town blues. It was supposed to be an uncomplicated fling - a few sizzling weeks before he went back to his life, and she moved on. Until an accidental pregnancy changed her life. I could have impressed him, if not for last month's unforgettable one-night stand. I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory - namely, his wallet. Now he's staring me down like I'm the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I'm supposed to take it. But the thing about being Judith "Jude" Humphry is I have nothing to lose. Brooklyn girl. Infamously quirky. Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.

Dirty Headlines is by FAR THE best AUDIObook listen of the year. Jacob Morgan nails this performance bringing his smoky-sultry-factual-yummy goodness right to your ears. L.J. Shen has written her best book yet! I know everyone has been talking about how good it is, but it’s NOT JUST hype! This is a REALLY good book! I was so entertained, even the epilogue was worth my full attention span. I am so grateful she has mastered how to balance the plot so we don’t have that typical 3/4 way in turn of events so many books have. I love the little twists and turns and not so obvious ways we float down her river of a story. Her characters are super deep and have so many layers, I want to live in her head (not in a creepy way) just to see how she comes up with so much of this stuff...and keeps it fun and light! Why don’t I see this on every book shelf in all of the Major retail stores? Housewives,
women and girls everywhere would be so much happier throughout the day with a little Celine, Jude and a couple pairs of chucks. Thank you for your awesome contribution to our world L.J. Shen. We need more of THIS type of Dirty Headlines instead of what we see in the news.

Julie writes with a purpose and thoughtfulness. I had my head spinning through every minute of this book wondering what I was missing or what could really be going on. It was So. Freaking. Great. The greatest gift she gives other than the story itself, is the EOBS. This end of book sh*# is where she expresses her writing motivation and lets us into her process. Everyone who aspires to express themselves creatively should be surrounding themselves with artists like JA Huss and their work. Grab ideas from them, learn from their creativity and enjoy the emotional and in this case sexy ride that they take you on along the way. Sebastian York (even if he won’t let us know what he looks like) does another fabulous job and you can’t help but love every word he narrates. Great work...it’s definitely worth spending your credits on this one.
