This is a story that happened over and over in America as cultures clashed. took a long time to dig out the details. I don't care for this reader, Mr Lane was ever so much better. IMHO!

There is so much going on, lots to assimilate. This seemed like a final book about Meg & Simon, I know more are coming in the series but mayhap the focus will change to another character.

it starts a bit slow, continues pretty slow throughout, and it finishes slow. this was not an issue for me as I was thoroughly enjoying the journey! for anyone wanting a zip line story, this isn't your story. it's not raw or raunchy. it's Sunday family dinner, Sweet tea on the porch, Mom and Pop love stories. I loved the epic feel of it!

The narrator is awful, male and female voices! Have me a headache trying to listen. I have up about the fourth. Sux! Going to return it if possible.

I don't know if there are any more coming, but I will buy them if they do. Hellequin is my new Anti-Hero Hero! I love Dick Frances books and the writing here seriously reminds me of his jockey character! I really enjoyed the narrator, the stories fast paced, some characters are so clearly defined they step off the pages. I do recommend these to any age reader...it's a wild ride but entertaining!

I thought it was very juvenile, poor character development, bad guys stereotypical, love story ridiculously painful...her talents just keep coming. Really, it IS a tired Twilight re-hash. If you're older than 14, give it a pass.

This is told in the first person, the main character's voice is so genuine...I have known women like her who survived the turn of the century and the depression, the dust bowl and changing societal mores. I really enjoyed the no-nonsense Maud, my heart bled for her. I feel the world perspective is true, the dialogue natural, and although this is set in the Midwest, it is also the story of Oklahoma. I recommend it, but not for light reading...this is gritty.
