Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'm not sure. I am currently only in chapter 2 and having a VERY hard time getting into the book with this horrible narrator. She drags out every single syllable in a word. No one actually speaks that way and it's very hard to listen to.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Get a different narrator.

How could the performance have been better?

Use a different narrator or at least have this one speak in a normal way. She drags out every syllable and it's awful!

Not far from Washington, D.C., in a wooded area of Northern Virginia, a small house at the end of a gravel road serves a secret purpose. With its sophisticated security apparatus and hidden miniaturized cameras, it is being used by the FBI to interview one of the most important witnesses the agency has ever had, a young woman with an incredible story to tell. But a few people know about the secret meeting. And for them, a violent drama is about to begin.

I love David Baldacci stories, but this narrator is just HORRIBLE! I have listening to him. I am only in the beginning of the book and am just hoping I can tough it out and listen to the rest so I can hear the story. I don't even know how to describe his whiny, breathy, complaining sounding voice. It's just terrible. Every character sounds the same with the exact same inflections of the voice. I have heard the narrator in other stories and his voice makes every character in every book he narrates sound as if they are bored to death and cynical of everything. It' very hard to develop an emotional bond with a character and have any feeling for what happens to them with this narrator. PLEASE QUIT USING HIM! ok, end rant. I hope to come back and say it was a good story despite the narrator.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Michael Kramer?

Anyone other than him, he is the absolute worst choice to narrate any book. I have heard him narrate before and each time it is like listening to nails on a chalk board. I barely make it through the stories and have no emotional investment in any of the characters because if the cynical and whiny way he portrays them as if they care about nothing. Every sentence ends on a sigh and every though sounds like they are bored. I can't stand him. I loved the books that Ron McLarty narrated. He does a wonderful job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, if I could get past the narrator with his breathy annoying voice.
