Excellent mix of social interactions mixed with a crime investigation. All characters are superbly developed and I can’t wait to read about baby Brienne or baby Aiden, or whatever they want to call it.

Two women vow to bring a killer to justice. Deputy Andrea Sullivan had hoped to leave the horrors of Los Angeles behind her, but the serial murders of college students in peaceful, picturesque Sedona are her nightmare case to solve. The complexities stretch local resources to the limit, and the FBI joins the case with Agent Cameron Ross in the lead.

Restarted it as soon as it ended.

I loved this love story! Yes, it’s a bit formulaic with the tough-as-nails butch and the more sensitive femme, but the characters are well developed and the crime story is very interesting. Cameron is sensitive in her own way. I liked her character very much. The Cameron/Andrea couple displays a different dynamic than Tori Hunter/Sam Kennedy. I’m looking forward to reading more stories about these law enforcement couples. Abby Craden did a great job with the narration.

An outstanding story, telling of the ups and downs in a not-so-perfect relationship shook by crisis and saved by the power of love. I loved both characters, Lily and Morgan. The narration was so good I even cried a bit over Morgan’s attempts at romancing Lily back into love. Lori Prince can read me the phone book. I chose this novel because she was the narrator.

Homicide detective Tori Hunter was used to doing things her way. But even after six different partners in seven years, she was not prepared for the hot-tempered Samantha Kennedy. Samantha, on the other hand, was trying to juggle a new job and a demanding boyfriend and now finds herself with an even greater challenge - being partnered with the most difficult detective in the entire squad.

This is a powerful crime story, full of horrifyingly violent scenes, a hostile work environment, sexism, and homophobia; the very dark side of life, all balanced against a captivating love story enhanced with compassion, self-acceptance, and tons of hott sex. My favorite Gerri Hill story so far, by far!

The narration was OK. The different tone and voice used for Tori made her sound like a chain smoker with COPD, the only let down. I wish a different tone was used for her, but I understand the need to change the voice enough so it’s distinguishable among the two main characters. Still, I believe it could have been executed better.

The quality of the story makes Tori’s “voice” tolerable.

Falling stars are supposed to be a lucky sign, but not for Austen. Her new job as a secretary in an international games company isn't off to a good start. Her first assignment - decorating the Christmas tree in the lobby - results in a trip to the ER after Dee, the company's second-in-command, gets hit by the star-shaped tree topper. Dee blames her instant attraction to Austen on her head wound, not the magic of the falling star. She's determined not to act on it.

By chapter 2, I was hooked on the story, but the narrator performs all dialog with an annoying sing-song-ish cadence. But I’m already hooked on the story, so I will have to suffer through his torture for an additional 9 hours. God help me.
