I was going to give the story (4) stars because of part one's main character being so annoyingly whiny..

Then it occurred to me that if the Author could create a character that got under my skin like that while delivering a great book, well, He deserves a good review... 5 Stars.

It's nice to have a book Hero that's not an Jerk... Don't mind my knock on the Reader that much... He actually does a fine job there was just something in his voice that reminds me of something... too mechanical.

Enjoyed the story though! Worth the credit in my opinion.

I enjoyed the book! It kept me listening longer than I should have..

My only issues were that characters could've been a little more developed and that although not entirely predictable...there weren't any surprise moments..

I'll buy from the Author and Narrator again.

Would you try another book from Jacqueline Druga and/or Lee Alan?

Yes, I liked the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

None in particular... Except maybe Grandma..

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes but the added sound effects were distracting during the story. At first I liked the novelty of them but about 3/4's of the way through they got annoying.

Do you think Immune needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No... Any book with alternate endings... Ended several ways already...

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book.. Felt like the characters had real reactions.. Sound effects have to go...

Perhaps not the best Narrator...

I enjoyed the book. It would be a great movie. My only issue was the Narrator would be better suited to reading comedies than horror.

Would you consider the audio edition of Earth Abides to be better than the print version?

While I absolutely love Audible Books and the opportunity they provide people like me who just don't have the time to be able to sit down and read... I don't feel they compare to the actual written book. I think the most obvious reason is that we become subject to the narrators voice, their inflections and their emphasis on the story line versus our own imagination. But please don't think I wasn't very pleased with the Narration, it was superb!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Earth Abides?

Oh my Gosh... I've been sitting here for 30 minutes trying to think of one moment that impacted me more than the others...and I keep remembering situations and reactions and lives and Death... I was overwhelmed...by the whole book...

Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis and Connie Willis ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not yet, but after this book I will....

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh? No,... Cry? Damn Close....

Any additional comments?

I chose this book thinking it would be a "Typical" apocalypse book... But I was Very Pleasantly surprised and Impressed with this "humanistic" book. I felt the whole range of emotions, from being happy, curious and apprehensive to being incredibly sad and everything in between. Money well spent!

What made the experience of listening to Soft Apocalypse the most enjoyable?

I think that listening to this book as the Presidential Election draws nearer really seems to make the storyline plausible... Following the daily news I felt the story actually was pertinent as a warning on the choices we make today...

Who was your favorite character and why?

I did enjoy the Main Character because he wasn't a "Superman" but seems average. I enjoyed the "believability" of his actions and consequences as they related to this story.

What does Erik Davies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Erik Davies helped the story along by not over-doing the different voices... which can really detract from a great book if not done right.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"Not with a Bang...but with a whimper..."

Any additional comments?

Its not the Best Book, its not the Best Story...its not even the most plausible storyline. But it is a GOOD book, well written, with solid Characters and more than enough thought provocation on the subjects it touched upon that I still find myself thinking about this book almost daily. To me, that's money well spent.
