You loved the books read by the author. Now hear theperformance. Singing her favorites, with the stories strung between, she makes powerful use of words, of her voice, and of storytelling. The addition of music makes even stories heard before fresh and alive.

Sapiens was an outstanding book. Parts of this follow up are good, generally regarding history and biology. Unfortunately, the digital technology discussed is common knowledge, and the political science is high school. Worth a read, but in serious need of trimming.

Breathtaking, monumental, a must-read by the most important political philosopher of the Twentieth Century. By the time she has finished comparing and contrasting the worlds of Hitler and Stalin, you will be prepared to face the worst.

Prof. Tolkien delighted the students at Oxford with Medieval English for over forty years. He invented two languages before he wrote this book. His friend CS Lewis encouraged him to publish. Is it really the story of his ordeals in World War I? His creativity sweeps together character and plot and countryside into poetry and story that seem more real than legend. The narrator enacts the tale well. Enjoy.

The author/narrator pronounces the subtleties of language so well and so interestingly that I cannot imagine the printed page could capture the experience. His delivery is delightful, his content is marvelous.

What a chance to hear the master himself read his own poetry from the Hobbit! For forty years he was a sought after lecturer at Oxford. Now we get to enjoy his skills.
Be warned this is not digital quality recording. Hence the downgrade. Still a treasure.

The tension between the ideas of Plato and Aristotle is what has made Western Civilization vibrant, Arthur Herman says. He presents a fast, thorough history of thinkers through the centuries who have extolled the two Greeks.
I disagree with him on a few points but am delighted and indebted to have heard his telling.
