The choices we make in our middle years contribute to the quality of the rest of our lives. Those that served us well in the first half of life may not work for us in the second. Dr. Hardin, founder and director of Midlife Consulting Services, wove together research, personal experiences, stories, and exercises to show how to live and age well.

Avery moved to Lake Tahoe for the quiet. She didn’t get that. What she found made her question everything she knew about the world. Basil, her aging golden retriever, has aged in reverse. Her new neighbors make flowers grow in winter. And her student, pale-eyed Bay, can freeze a bully’s heart in his chest. Then there’s Duncan. After Duncan is captured in the Greensward, Avery thinks her biggest challenge is to rescue him, until ICE Agent Graham Braddock shows up at her door, claiming Duncan Sommerfeld is an illegal alien. Oh, if he only knew. Even so, she has to keep her promise to Bay - the promise that she would bring his father home to both of them, but how the heck did you accomplish the impossible?

Book Two DOES NOT disappoint. The great mysterious quest that started int he first book continues on with new revelations and obstacles. Also a ton of humor. I look forward to Avery gaining more self-confidence. This series reminds me of the way Stephen King released The Green Mile in a series of very short, regularly-released paperbacks like the old serials. I'm hoping Book Three comes out as quickly as Book Two. I'm ready to listen to more.

Recurring nightmares haunted D'laine Jackson when she woke from an eight-month coma following a tragic accident. Four images were branded in her head: a dark-haired, handsome princely young man, a fierce reptilian monster, a white furry creature whose red eyes implored her with some unspoken message, and an ominous black robot. Now, five years later, D'laine was getting ready to go off to college. During one last shopping trip with her father and brothers for dorm supplies, a blanket of fog rolled out of the sky at the mall, in broad daylight in plain sight of dozens of witnesses. When the fog pulled back D'laine was gone. When she woke, her nightmare turned into reality.

Really great book. The characters are of all ages - the heroes young and dynamic and really tough. They have the kind of conscience that makes you wish the whole world had this kind of attitude. The story has a lot of levels and these kids are dealing with a lot of issues. IN the word of Thol there are all kinds of beings in conflict both physical and philosophical. What kind of world do we want to live in? What is right and what is wrong? Yet there is plenty of humor and plenty of inventiveness in the creation of this 'other world' that keep the story very balanced and a pleasure to listen to. This is a new venture for this author - science fiction/fantasy. I have listened to her cozies which have the same creativity and comedy. Bravo Dawn Ireland. I'll listen to more.

I love this series. All the Peyton Brooks are fantastic. Ghost Squad comes to Hollywood to investigate a model's death. Really clever involvement of the whole cast of friends from San Fran. It's keeping me curious with carry over mysteries. The particular mystery of this death is strangely timely in this time of #metoo. I felt like I was right there. Great work.

What a remarkable book. A story that is freshing and imaginative. A fantasy that is truly something unique and tongue-in-cheek and literary. A cast of character-animal-citizens that are imbued with attributes that are truly 'human' - flaws and funnies and all. Heroes and villains. An hilarious, self-aware, menopausal woman/hippo is the star. Her world, Rendaz, the superior planet and race of animals that 'discovered' Earth and its inhabitants. This story encourages us all to take a look at our world and our choices in a gentle and fairy-tale way. Fantasy, creativity, humor, pathos, great performances.

Solid book two and ending to the series. You need to read Book One to get the whole thing.
There are lots of plot twists and surprises for the characters and the listener. You get a good feel for everyone, not just Clove this time, as book one is more from primarily her perspective. This series is an unusual premise that comes to its conclusion in an unusual and unexpected way. It kept me listening. I didn't want to stop until I found out what was going to happen. That's what I expect from a good story.
