I just purchased this but did not remember I had listened before because I didn't like it enough to ever listen again so it was returned but I didn't rate it or at least I don't think I did and can do it twice anyway as soon as he was hit by the truck I remembered so I stopped and I'm returning again, I love Riley Hart but this one was not a winner for me.

"Cody Davis is gonna make a sinner out of me." Yes, I know exactly who he is. The wounded soldier at the end of Willow Street. Intimidating. Devastatingly handsome. Muscular body chiseled from stone. Deep dark eyes that dare you to come near. Attitude for days. And I just became his caregiver. Everyone warned me to stay away from him - including my father, the respected minister of our small town of Spruce. But clearly, I'm too stubborn to heed good advice, especially when Cody Davis is as frustratingly attractive - and persistent - as they come.

I adored this book and as soon as I finished I listed again. The second story I didn't care for and was one of the main reasons I listened again to see if I would like it better the second go round but no still didn't care for it. I felt I didn't really get to know them but what I did I didn't feel was likable and the story just fell flat for me. The other two however I thought were really well especially the last one. I think I liked that fact that the first and last were in the past. I wish there was people of color in the books. You have a demon, monster, vampire and whatever Grimes was but no one of color. The world is not white and never has been I wish the writes would show that as well. Joel Leslie as the narrator was awesome as always.

It's all a matter of opinion, but Carter's day is going pretty badly. He's an engineer captured by bug aliens, now depending on his large, muscled, naked cage mates for food and warmth. They seem sentient, so that's good. But they're also handsy. Which is...complicated. The military isn't looking for him. Slaves taken by the bug race never come back. Yet, Carter is very much alive, and if he wants to stay that way, he'll need to trust Pykh and Siel, two affectionate aliens with claws, teeth, and size.

This book just came out today on audible and I bought it because the blurb sounded so promising and I was excited. The good to me was that the writing of the characters was very detailed at least where the aliens were concerned, I felt much was not given about Carter and he needed more of a voice but still done pretty good.

What I thought brought the book down so much for me was the sadness. No, I don't expect for slaves to be happy but good grief and I felt Siel was mean to Pykh. He loved him but was still mean to him most of the time and looked down on him because he didn't know anything outside of being born into slavery. That wasn't his fault! I didn't totally dislike Siel and he was sad to because he was put into slavery after living a real life and just wanted to die.

But what really messed me up with this book was the end, just when it was getting good to me, it was over. I'm not sure I would call it a cliffhanger per se' but it definitely is not finished and you have to read the sequel. Well since I listened to it I have no idea if the second will even be made.

Joel Leslie as the narrator was excellent as always.

I really liked the characters, how they met and how when they found out about who the doctor was online and not there was no drama. Perfectly done. But the part that tipped this book for me on the downward slant was the stalker aspect, it was just not needed and made no sense, especially who it turned out to be. Dear. Mr. Walker, you are a romance writer not mystery or suspense.

At first I thought this book was stupid but no it's worse, its ridiculous and way over top with the actions, emotions and dialogue. The protectee is one regular guy in fear of a stalker, not some famous person or political person, judge, someone like getting threats. Noooo, he's a bakery/coffee shop owner. Why did it take 5 or 6 guys to guard him? How did these super protection specialist secure protectees apartment but not make sure someone could not get in through the window? With the running, yes they needed multiple people to do relay since he ran for ages without getting winded. I'm used to insta-love but this was so ridiculous, I want to protect and take care of you and be with you for the rest of my life in like a day. Then the protector and protectees best friend who is also is business partner treat him like a child. I mean toddler or maybe second grated child. I wonder if off the pages did the author have them changing his underwear and powdering his butt. This book was just horrible.
