Meet the galaxy's unluckiest outlaws. Carl Ramsey is an ex-Earth Navy fighter pilot turned con man. His ship, the Mobius, is home to a ragtag crew of misfits and refugees looking to score a big payday but more often just scratching to pay for fuel. The crew consists of his ex-wife (and pilot), a drunkard, four-handed mechanic, a xeno-predator with the disposition of a 120kg housecat, and the galaxy's most-wanted wizard.

Other reviews mentioned that this was somewhoat like the TV show "Firefly." "Okay, I liked that show . . . the home spun flavor of a cozy space craft crewed by a bunch of misfits - an old fashion western set in space." So if "Galaxy Oulaws" was like that, then I will probably enjoy it. But it was the whooping 85 hours of listening at the price of 1 credit that sold me. But other than the basic set up of a roaming space ship - this is not "Firefly" - this is much better. I could hardly "put this audio book down" so to speak. It is just nice to find something that is way more than I was hoping it would be. The characters are just great - fleshed out - so quirky and so funny. The word that just comes to mind when I think of this audiobook is Fun!.

It is a bit on the mature side with some swearing, some sex references, etc. Normally, I don't care for that in a book but here it is handled discreetly for laughs - I would call this a PG 13 book for the most part. And the narrator is real good Highly recommended.

For Kelly, it was an impossible dream come true when he shipped out on the Space Angel. Ship's boy was the most menial job aboard, but it was excitement enough just to be in space. Things became more exciting than even Kelly wanted when an unimaginably old and powerful entity commandeered the Space Angel and sent the freighter on an incredible mission to the center of the galaxy - with two hereditary killers and a poetic crab added to the crew for extra interest! Kelly knew that he would finish the trip as a seasoned spacer - or a very dead one.

John Maddox Roberts has become one of my favorite authors. I so enjoyed his "SPQR" Roman series that I branched out and started reading and listening to his earlier tales of science fiction and fantasy. This particular audible book did not let me down, and I was glad I used a precious credit on this light tale of science fiction. Enjoyable characters, fast paced, and a very good narrator. If you enjoyed the old Robert Heinlein "juvenile" SF books like "Space Cadet" or "Spaceman Jones" then this is very similar to that type of book - and you should take a chance and use a credit on this gem.
