I read the first book in the series and thought it was just okay, but I decided I would try the second. The narrator is very good with different accents but her own sophisticated, mature voice lacked emotion and is totally wrong for the main character who is a 5' petite blonde. It really disracted me from the story.

I like a long book but this one went into so much unnecessary detail the story became dull. Only the excellent narration kept me from giving up. I am reading the complete Roy Grace series but my advice to anyone else doing the same would be to skip this one...you won't miss a thing.

Captivating story...amazing narrator.

Amazing narrator brought each character, male and female, to life with incredible mastery of accents.

The Cormoran Strike books are fabulous! The stories and characters are spell-binding. J.K. Rowling (Galbraith) is the most incredible writer! I'm going to be in withdrawal waiting for book four.

I can't wait to listen to the next two books in the series. Galbraith/ Rowling is a born story teller and her amazing characters are perfectly brought to life by the incredible narrator.

I wasn't sure about this story for the first couple of chapters but any book narrated by Harriet Walter's is worth a listen so I carried on and I'm so glad I did. This mystery is so cleverly written and the characters are brought to life so perfectly by the narrator. This is my first Barbara Vine novel but it certainly won't be my last.

A perfectly woven storey that was captivating from beginning to end, enhanced by Jill Tanner's wonderful narration.

A different narrator would have made all the difference.

The narrator's accents for the different characters were very good but this book has a lot of description and the enjoyment of the story was marred by the reader's monotone delivery and disregard for punctuation. Commas treated like periods and then other times periods were so lightly skipped over that everything ran together. Some of the highlights and critcal moments in the story were lost as a result.
