She and her fiancé sign up for a travel assignment at a small Nevada facility in the middle of nowhere. On their first day, driving down a long, creepy private road, ominous sentry-like boulders block out the sun. When they finally arrive at the facility, Gina’s eye starts to twitch a warning when she stares at heavy iron bars on the second floor windows.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The fact that it references Jack Daniels as a character. I had high expectations.

What could J. A. Konrath and Ann Voss Peterson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Have Susie Breck and Dick Hill narrate, for starters. The whole way it's presented was disappointing.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I prefer how the Jack Daniels books narrated by Susie Breck and Dick Hill bring the characters to life in books by Konrath ( /anybody else) - so my dislike is that it wasn't them. The narration was NOT "bad" - it just wasn't them.

Did Wild Night Is Calling inspire you to do anything?

Hope for a new Jack Daniels book - in the manner of the first JD series - fast!

Any additional comments?

Although it's fun to hear the author talk a bit about the premise, I wanted another JD book or for a new character to follow that I could enjoy - this wasn't satisfying to my hopes.

Start with a tough but vulnerable Chicago cop. Stir in a psychopath with a unique mental condition that programs him to kill. Add a hyperactive cat, an ailing mother, a jealous boyfriend, a high-maintenance ex-husband, and a partner in the throes of a mid-life crisis. Mix with equal parts humor and suspense, and enjoy Bloody Mary. When Jack receives a report of an excess of body parts appearing at the Cook County Morgue, she hopes it’s only a miscount. It’s not. Even worse, these extra limbs seem to be accessorized with Jack’s handcuffs.

Would you listen to Bloody Mary again? Why?

Definitely! I love it when a book comes alive and I am so engrossed that I can see the characters as real people.

What other book might you compare Bloody Mary to and why?

Jack Daniels is such a great melding of Stephanie Plum, Kay Scarpetta, Alex Cross ... that I can't compare it to any single book. It's in a class of its own.

What does Dick Hill and Susie Breck bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They ARE the characters they read! I was so disappointed when the last books weren't read by them. Their inflections, tone, attitude and consistent portraits of each character make every word come alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not only this book! I downloaded every one in the series and kept my iPhone in my pocket with my headphones in my ears so I didn't miss a minute!

Any additional comments?

Please, please, please... Go back to Susie and Dick only !!!!!!! She makes Jack Daniels ALIVE!!!! The male narrator in the last books is great, BUT I was so disappointed - it wasn't Jack :( "something was missing" - I intend to look for anything she narrates - She becomes the character! She IS whoever she is reading and she's the match for this author. Give her a raise & get her back - 'cuz she is Jack!! The team of Susie & Dick is a match!!!

His name is Luther Kite, and his specialty is murdering people in ways too horrible to imagine. He's gone south, where he's found a new, spectacular way to kill. And if you have enough money, you can bet on who dies first. Legendary Chicago cop Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels has retired. She's no longer chasing bad guys, content to stay out of the public eye and raise her new daughter. But when her daughter's father, Phin Troutt, is kidnapped, she's forced to strap on her gun one last time.

What made the experience of listening to Last Call the most enjoyable?

Absolutely love the Jack Daniels books!! The storylines are terrific. The melding of Janet Evanovich and Patricia Cornwell is a dream come true.

What did you like best about this story?

You are actually engrossed - unable to predict the outcome... Held on with the suspense! Waiting for the next laugh, which is why I am so enthralled by this author. The fine mix of suspense and comedic moments keeps you from getting bored.

Which scene was your favorite?

Every scene kept me wanting more!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Don't want to say what moved me the most or I would spoil it for other readers.

Any additional comments?

Please, please, please... Go back to the original female narrator!!!!!!! She makes Jack Daniels ALIVE!!!! The male narrator is great, BUT I was so disappointed - it wasn't Jack :( "something was missing" - I wish I knew her name to insert here. I intend to find out and look for anything she narrates - She becomes the character! She IS whoever she is reading and she's the match for this author. I downloaded every Jack Daniels, so far... What's next for her? I'm hoping it comes soon. I download an average of 20 books a week from Kindle Unlimited. None of the books I've gotten since I finished this series has kept me engrossed. Not one.

After the events in Gathering Prey, Lucas Davenport finds himself in a very unusual situation - no longer employed by the Minnesota BCA. His friend, the governor, is just cranking up a presidential campaign, though, and he invites Lucas to come along as part of his campaign staff. "Should be fun!" he says, and it kind of is - until they find they have a shadow: an armed man intent on killing the governor...and anyone who gets in the way.
